SCARY MOVIE Returns to Cinemas June 5 with New Single “Hoes” by Lizzo Featuring Sexyy Red
A new installment of the horror-comedy franchise Scary Movie is set to hit cinemas on June 5, bringing back the original “Core Four” alongside a satirical take on modern horror trends and Hollywood reboots.
The film, titled Scary Movie, is presented by Paramount Pictures in association with Miramax and produced under a Wayans Brothers presentation. It reunites franchise stars Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall.
The new entry picks up more than two decades after the characters previously escaped a masked killer reminiscent of “Ghostface.” This time, they find themselves once again targeted as the film humorously targets horror franchises, reboots, “legacy sequels,” and every variation of modern horror storytelling. According to the synopsis, “nothing is sacred” as the film aims to parody nearly every major horror trope.
The project is directed by Michael Tiddes and written by a team including Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez. Producers include Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez.
Executive production is credited to Jonathan Glickman, Thom Zadra, Alexandra Loewy, and Marsha L. Swinton.
The ensemble cast also features Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, Heidi Gardner, Lochlyn Munro, Olivia Rose Keegan, and others.
In addition to the film announcement, a new single titled “Hoes” by Lizzo featuring Sexyy Red has been released alongside the promotional rollout, tying into the film’s marketing campaign.
The studio describes the movie as a full return to the franchise’s signature style of parody, with an updated focus on contemporary horror trends, including sequels, spin-offs, prequels, and “elevated horror” storytelling.
