Scoop, the prestigious fashion and lifestyle trade show, renowned for its showcase of some of the most exceptional designers on the market, is thrilled to announce its latest collaboration with acclaimed artist Paul O’Farrell for the upcoming show. Running from 14th-16th July at Olympia West, Kensington, this year Scoop is embracing a little of its artistic history.

Formerly held in the iconic Saatchi Galleries, Scoop has always been synonymous with exceptional curation, seamlessly integrating contemporary art into its curated event. This season, Scoop is delighted to revive this tradition by featuring the extraordinary works of Paul O’Farrell. Known for his distinctive costume-led style and vibrant creations, O’Farrell’s art will add a captivating visual experience to the show.

Paul O’Farrell’s journey began in the fashion world, studying Fashion at Bretton Hall College in Yorkshire. It was here that O’Farrell showcased his flair for theatre by running the wardrobe department for two years before seeking his fortunes in London. His career in costume making began at MBA, contributing to major films such as Harry Potter and Master and Commander. O’Farrell then continued in the industry for many years at the Royal Opera House, working on costumes for many different productions.

Despite costume making being his livelihood, painting and drawing remained his true passion since childhood, and his artwork has been featured in numerous group exhibitions. O’Farrell’s work has been shown with art collectives such as What is The Point (now Artcan), We Are Sweet Art, and The Stash Gallery Members Show. His solo exhibitions include Mindscapes at The Circle Gallery in Sheffield (2017), Mindscapes and Heavenly Bodies at The Stash Gallery in London (2018), Mindscapes at The Husk in London (2019), Heavenly Bodies at The Three Colt Gallery in London (2021), and Frida and Heavenly Bodies at the Oakland Gallery in New Brighton (2023) and Mersey Arts Zone (2023).

    Glitterarty and Heavenly Bodies

Glitterarty explores the use of reflective materials to create otherworldly artwork. O’Farrell’s creations range from wall paintings and furniture to pieces that can be worn or displayed, intertwining beauty and function, with strong connections to each piece’s surroundings.

Heavenly Bodies originated from O’Farrell’s first solo exhibition in London at The Stash Gallery, including representations of strong female characters from history, mythology, literature, and his own imagination, using sculptural forms that can be both worn and mounted on walls. O’Farrell used a mould of a plastic bodice once used in an opera as the base of his designs, letting his imagination run wild to create the extravagant, vibrant masterpieces.

Karen Radley, Founder and Managing Director of Scoop, says, “We are thrilled to welcome Paul O’Farrell to Scoop and to continue our support of the art world. His art perfectly complements the ethos of our show, combining creativity and elegance. This collaboration will not only enhance the visual appearance of Scoop but provide visitors with an immersive art experience as they explore the show.’
