Skylight Rooftop at Tobacco Dock returns on Thursday 2nd May 2019 for its highly anticipated summer season. Famous for its panoramic and uninterrupted views across the city’s skyline and unique urban lawn games and bar offering, the expansive rooftop venue has become one of London’s favourite summer hot spots. This summer, Skylight will be back with day-beds and garden booths for afternoon lounging, new seasonal cocktails for summertime sipping and an exciting calendar of programming and special events for all-summer partying.

Skylight rooftop at tobacco dock 2019

Created in 2017 by Meanwhile Events, and the team behind Tobacco Dock in Wapping, the 600 capacity venue boasts three floors of bars, entertainment, lawn games, street food and screens for live sporting events. The venue is situated atop of an unused multi-story carpark and is conveniently located a mere one stop from Bank. Pulsating with activity in the summer months, Skylight is also now a top winter pop-up destination featuring Europe’s only real-ice rooftop ice rink, making the venue equally popular during the festive season.

Skylight’s raised platform bar on level 12 has undergone an upgrade for 2019, welcoming all-new day beds and private garden booths as well as added greenery and beautiful plants. This bar is situated on Skylight’s highest level, boasting the best views across London, and will be open as an exclusive destination for those looking for a special experience this summer. This space is great for celebrations and each booth and bed is available to book from £70 for up to 10 people, this includes a drink on arrival and table service. Bespoke drinks packages can be built in advance – perfect for group bookings and parties.

The large pergola and bar on the main level remains the venue’s drinking hub, while the lower level providing a large sheltered space, perfect for grabbing a bite of street food or dancing the night away to Skylight’s weekly rota of DJs. Entry to Skylight is free and tables are available on a first-come-first-served basis as well as bookable in advance, starting at £10 for 10 people.

Throughout summer 2019, Skylight will play host to an array of events that are set to define a London summer. Special screenings: FA Cup Final, Wimbledon and The Rugby World Cup

Special events: Hendricks Summer Solstice party (June 21), themed events (throughout the summer), Gay Day at Skylight, Opera at Skylight, Dog Day

Lush green croquet lawns will be returning to the rooftop, as well as the French village game of pétanque and guests can now enjoy the addition of table tennis. These games feature across the different levels of Skylight and are both indoor and outdoor. Prices start at £15, teams made up of two to six for croquet and two to four people for pétanque will be able to book the game of their choice in half hour or 45 minute slots. Table tennis will start at £5 for 30 minute of play.

The three bars at Skylight serve a variety of seasonal and ever-changing cocktails. Examples from the summer menu include the competition winning Jalisco Sky, Raspberry Rum Margherita, Apple Sunrise and the Gin Basil Spice. Skylight also specialises in pitchers, perfect for groups these sharing cocktails include the light and refreshing English Garden, Sky Tail and that firm summer favourite, Pimms. The bars will also feature Sharps Offshore, Staropramen, Wolf Rock IPA, Blue Moon and Aspal Cyder on tap, the full range of Bacardi spirits and Moët Hennessy Champagnes will be available by the glass and the bottle. On the lower level, street food will be served from YIRO and Flipside, both serving up a selection of ultimate summer dishes with a focus on world-flavours.

Available for full and partial hire, Skylight welcomes private parties and corporate events of all sizes and styles.

Thursday & Friday 5pm – 11pm, Saturday & Sunday – 12pm – 11pm (with 2pm Friday openings in June, July and August) Entry to Skylight is free, unless a ticketed event is specified.
