Slovak Fashion Council debuting their AW20 presentation yesterday at Victoria House with Fashion Scout.

“I’m not a robot” is a group of three fashion designers, freshly graduated from Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Nora Čanecká, Erika Daxnerová and Barbora Jakubová. Trying to find their own place in contemporary fashion design, they have realised that the brand production does not need to be fixed and unchangeable but could be constantly fluid and creative. This starting point has also become a credit for “I’m not a robot’s” main objective.

The main focus of “I’m not a robot” project is the creation of individually standing clothing items. The production of each garment has its own unique approach. This project uncovers the real process behind making every product as well as it shows the importance of human labour in their development. “I’m not a robot” wants to manifest the value of clothing amongst the prevalent fast fashion trend in contemporary production. It is crucial to restoring the importance of handicraft and particularly the work of individual people that stand behind these products.

Freier

Young Slovak brand freier was founded by Terézia Feňovčíková in 2018. The designer graduated from the fashion studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in 2017. at Bratislava Design Week 17 she received the emerging designer prize and her diploma collection was awarded the Fashion Live fresh designer prize in 2017.

The uniqueness of the Slovak brand freier is design served raw, collected from the life of street and its variability. On the surface, this means experiment with the cut and visual details on the clothing, disrupted by the styling. Beneath the surface, it means the inspirational composition of the theme. In the first place, it does not only mean the concept, but also accompanying moments, which are related and encourage us to attain the authenticity of each collection.
