Wildlife Photographer, Nick Dale Teams Up with Gane And Marshall To Lead His First Photography Tour of Tanzania

Specialist wildlife and adventure tour operator Gane and Marshall has launched a photography safari in Tanzania, led by photographer Nick Dale. The seven-night Tanzania Northern Highlights Photographic Safari departs on 10 February 2018, and is the first tour of its kind by the acclaimed wildlife photographer.

The safari, which visits Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, will give budding photographers the chance to learn the tricks of the trade from a master in his field.  With an emphasis on “capturing the moment”, Dale has sold over 5,000 images, published three photography books and won countless competitions, including The Sunday Times Big Shot.

Dale will join guests on the daily game drives to offer hands-on advice for capturing the perfect shot. Throughout the tour, he’ll run individual and group sessions – tailored to everyone’s ability level – covering composition and camera familiarisation plus photographic techniques such as taking a ‘slow pan’ shot of a wildebeest. He will share his personal ‘shot of the day’ and ask guests to share their top three shots each day for discussion, feedback and key learnings. Participants are not required to have a DSLR camera, but, if they are particularly interested in honing their “close-up” skills or want to capture images that they can blow up and frame on the wall, a DSLR camera is recommended.

“I’m delighted to be working with Gane and Marshall on this specialist safari,” says Dale.  “My passion for wildlife photography has taken me all over Africa with highlights including capturing the ‘gorillas in the mist’ on camera in Rwanda and Uganda, and snapping a variety of wildlife in the Masai Mara in Kenya and the Okavango Delta in Botswana. This will be my first trip as the tour photographer, and I’m excited to share my expertise and show budding wildlife photographers how to get the most out of a game drive, the best techniques to use and a few fundamentals about the Exposure Triangle (shutter speed, aperture and ISO) to give them the best possible chance of capturing “the money shot” and returning home with the ultimate safari souvenir.”

Wildlife fans taking the ‘Tanzania Northern Highlights Photographic Safari’ will experience Lake Manyara National Park, described by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I have seen in Africa” thanks to its ground water forests, bush plains, baobab-strewn cliffs and hot springs that offer incredible ecological variety in a small area rich in wildlife; the Serengeti, one of the largest and best game reserves in all of Africa and home to the ‘Big 5’ – lion, leopard, Cape buffalo, elephant, and rhino; and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world, which offers a diversity of landscapes, wildlife, people and archaeology.

The trip departs the UK on 10 February 2018, arriving at Kilimanjaro airport on 11 February and returning on 17 February 2018.

Prices start from £2,240 per person, based on two sharing. This includes one night at Tloma Lodge, located on the eastern shoulder of the Ngorongoro Highlands, three nights at a traditional bush camp – Kati Kati Camp – in the game-rich Seronera region in the heart of the Serengeti, two nights at the small and exclusive Ngorongoro Farmhouse close to the Ngorongoro Lolduare gate, internal transfers, private transportation throughout, all entrance fees and park fees, an experienced guide and support team, including Nick Dale as the photographer guide. An optional balloon ride over the Serengeti costs £485 per person. International flights are additional, starting from £650 return with Kenya Airways from London Heathrow to Kilimanjaro International.
