Ella McCready released her debut EP ‘Breathe’ on 2nd September and it’s a debut not to be missed. Having released 7 singles in the space of a year, Ella has been working hard at creating a space for herself in the industry as a hugely powerful vocalist and songwriter. This EP sees Ella take a step away from some of the upbeat dance pop that we’ve heard her release so far, and go right back to what feels like her true musical roots. It is a real showcase of her captivating voice and uplifting song writing.
Breathe’ was co-written by Ella and UK- based musician Jacob Stoney, and coproduced by Stoney and LA-based producer Jeremy Rompala. Between these 3 artists, something magical has been created. Ella writes about ‘offering up her soul’ each time she puts music out into the world and asks the listener to ‘hold it gently’.
The first single to be released from the EP was ‘What it’s Worth’, this is a song about songwriting. But more broadly speaking, it’s a song about the cost of sharing your art with the world. “It takes a lot of courage and vulnerability to be able to open yourself up to other people’s opinions on something you’ve created;” it feels like ‘offering up your soul’, as the song goes
