Over the past couple of months, we’ve all watched the countless fashion shows dictating this spring’s upcoming fashion trends. However, the biggest trend that emerged from these shows isn’t fashion related at all. Dewy, glossy skin dominated the catwalk, as many designers sent their models down the runway with glowing faces. Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma show in New York featured models wearing her highlighting hues and Christopher Kane promoted glistening and holographic faces in London. But this trend isn’t one that’s easy to wear. Glossy, glowing skin takes a lot of preparation and if you’re looking to obtain the look this Spring, be sure to check out some of these tips before it’s too late.

You are what you eat

You’ve probably heard the expression, “you are what you eat”, and although it’s not completely true, there is a lot of meaning behind the statement. What you digest has a big impact on how you feel and ultimately how you look. If you’re looking to protect, tighten, and tone your skin, you should add more antioxidants to your diet. Some super foods that are high in antioxidants include grapes, blueberries, dark green vegetables, and sweet potatoes. Foods that are also rich in Omega 3s such as salmon, sardines and flax seeds, and those that have high Vitamin A content, such as avocados and carrots are also great for rejuvenating and moisturizing skin.

Hot water for a hot look

Kim Kardashian recently revealed a super easy beauty secret that she learned from Kris Jenner. According to the celebrity, Kris drenches a face towel with hot water and creates an at-home spa remedy that opens the pores with steam and removes dead skin. This is a quick and easy method that can help you obtain this spring’s glowing look. Drinking hot water is also another way to improve your skin. Hot water removes a lot of the toxins from inside our body which allows our skin to grow fresh and young.

Exfoliate the skin with acids

Everyone should exfoliate to remove old, dry, and dead skin cells. By removing these cells, your skin can then develop healthy, radiant, and smooth cells that create a more glowing look. This spring, the most popular way to exfoliate is to add acids to your skincare routine. Alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic, lactic, mandelic, and citric acid all perform extremely well to reduce the number of visible lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, boost collagen production, and hydrate the skin. You can find many of these acids at home and make your own skin purifying mask. Try mixing lemon and milk, lemon and honey, or apple and vinegar to create the perfect exfoliator.

This spring, glowing skin is in. However, you need to work hard if you want to keep your skin looking dewy, healthy, and young. Start these tips early enough and you’ll be ready to rock the trend in time for the season.
