Machine gun comedy (with gun sound effects) coming at you at every angle describes a night watching the extremely hilarious comedy show ’Stamptown.’
From the very very beginning, and with very loud music blasting out of the speakers before the show starts – everything comes at you at 100 plus miles an hour – the jokes, the myriad of acts, the comedy, the host, the sound effects – it’s all fast and furious – and fantastic, and Zach Zucker is the glue who holds it all together, and he does it brilliantly. Zucker, a Chicago native via New York, sets, and keeps, the fast pace of the show going – introducing a myriad of many many acts who all have a precious few minutes to do what they do best, and some of these acts also have shows at Soho Theatre running in parallel to Stamptown.
American Martin Urbano gives live on-stage criticism of the show; Natalie Palamides provide comedy with her two selves, the stagehands (unwittingly or not) also provide laughs throughout the show, plus other acts that may or may night change on the night you see it. This may or may not include burlesque performances (male and female) as well as a finale act that will both tittilate and shock you – it’s too much and way out there to mention here! There is so much happening on stage that it’s all hard to process, and show is all finished by the time you know it! To be honest we didn’t know what to expect but we were blown away! Kudos to Zucker and tech maestro Jonny Woolley.
After a very popular Edinburgh Fringe Festival run, Stamptown Comedy Night is now playing at London’s Soho Theatre up until January 27th, and if I were you I would buy tickets right away.
