A luminous, feminine collection rich in texture, where Mexico’s textile heritage meets Mediterranean freedom and Barcelona’s savoir-faire.
Barcelona, October 2026. On 20 October Surkana presented HUIPIL SS27 at Marina Vela, as part of the 38th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion. Conceived as a celebration of colour, craftsmanship and femininity, the new collection marks an even bolder and more personal chapter in the brand’s story.
HUIPIL SS27 was born from a journey to Mexico and a fascination with a textile heritage in which every motif, every colour and every stitch can tell a story. The huipil, an ancestral garment passed down from generation to generation, becomes the starting point for the collection. Rather than reproducing it, Surkana offers a free-spirited, sensitive and contemporary interpretation.
The collection unfolds through a vibrant palette of earthy tones, mineral greens, deep blues and jewel-like accents. Embroidery, beads, fringes, woven textures, jacquards, natural fibres and hand-finished details bring depth to fluid, feminine silhouettes full of movement. The result is an expressive, luminous and characterful wardrobe designed for women who love colour, texture and garments that express their individuality.
The beauty of savoir-faire, the richness of materials
For Surkana, quality is recognised in the details: in the construction of a volume, the richness of a texture, the precision of an embroidered finish or the way a fabric moves with the body.
In HUIPIL SS27, craftsmanship takes centre stage through bead embroidery, raised-texture techniques, woven details and hand-applied embellishments, giving each silhouette a distinctive character.
This attention to materials goes hand in hand with tangible commitments: 90% of the collection is made using natural and certified fibres, including GOTS-certified cotton and ECOVERO™ viscose, while the packaging is FSC-certified. This approach prioritises garments designed to stand the test of time, artisanal expertise and more conscious fashion, without sacrificing colour, sensuality or the pleasure of getting dressed.
