Taylor Swift released her fifth studio album, 1989 on 27^th October 2014. In the U.S. it had the highest first week sales of any other album in over a decade and cemented Swift as the first artist in chart history to have three albums each sell over one million copies within the first week. In the UK, it became Taylor’s best-selling album, (with over 1.7 million chart units), after debuting at No. 1 in the Official Albums Chart. In 2016 1989 received the GRAMMY’s most prestigious accolade, Album of The Year Award. Taylor is the only female artist ever to have been honoured in this category three times (Fearless, 1989 and folklore).
