The Official Selection of the 71st Festival de Cannes has been revealed during Thierry Frémaux and Pierre Lescures traditional annual meeting with the French and international press.

There will be a wide array of films at next month’s festival, including films by world-renowned filmmakers such as Spike Lee (first time at the festival since 1991), Ron Howard and Jean-Luc Goddard, among others, as well as lots new newcomers to the film scene, signalling that there’s a new generation out there making quality and festival-worthy films.

The opening film comes from Asghar Farhadi, and stars real-llfe couple Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, and Ricardo Darín. But the real question is ‘who will be walking the red carpet?’ Well that answer won’t come until later  when the festival announces the attendees.
But expect glitz, glamour and, luckily enough, no Harvey Weinstein!
