Right now, hospice staff are at the forefront of the battle with COVID-19, continuing to care for vulnerable people whilst also easing the burden on the NHS. Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice and palliative care ensuring all adults and children living with a terminal or life-shortening illness receive the care and support they need, when they need it.

Simply look for the rainbow, heart and star icons on the website and 25% from each purchase will be donated to Hospice UK.

Jacynth Bassett, founder of www.the-Bias-Cut.com said: “During this unprecedented difficult time, everyone is struggling. But it is vital that we don’t forget those who were already struggling before Covid-19 gripped the world, and will now be even more so.

Over the next 12 weeks, it is estimated that charities will miss out on at least £4.3bn of income due to the impact of coronavirus, consequently reducing support and aid for those in need. In particular, Britain’s 210 hospices – that take care of approximately 200,000 profoundly unwell or terminally ill patients – are at risk of complete closure as ¾ of their usual income comes from fundraising through events or charity shops.

Having lost loved ones to aggressive cancers over the past 10 years, including my grandma and a close friend at aged 17, I am particularly aware of the incredible support hospices provide. When my seemingly fit and healthy grandma was suddenly diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011, and died just a month later, her local hospice provided incredible palliative care at her home during her last days. She was able to die peacefully, and the support also made a significant difference as my grandad had also recently been diagnosed with late onset Alzheimer’s.

Thinking about my loved ones and what they went through, I can only imagine the distress the terminally ill and their families will be currently experiencing during this pandemic. To then lose the additional support of hospices will be devastating.

So, to help raise funds for hospices, www.the-Bias-Cut.com will be donating 25% of all total proceeds from sales from all our rainbow, heart and star motif clothing and accessories to Hospice UK – the national representative body. We hope this will bring a small ray of light to everyone involved, and most importantly, love and support to those suffering during these difficult times.”
