Over 1,000 artefacts and designer stories from across The Commonwealth ready to discover at the click of a button

The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange has partnered with Google Arts & Culture to create an interactive platform to showcase fashion design talent from across The Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange, launched earlier this year and was celebrated at a reception at Buckingham Palace during London Fashion Week in February.

The project in partnership with Swarovski, The Woolmark Company and MATCHESFASHION.COM, showcases a wealth of fashion talent from across The Commonwealth’s 53 countries, where designers and artisans collaborated to create bespoke womenswear looks to illustrate the power and potential in partnerships and global co-design.

Now, each one of those creations and the immersive stories behind them can be found online at Google Arts & Culture.

The Google Arts & Culture platform brings over 1,000 artefacts and videos about these beautiful collaborations online, as well as the stories from the designers and artisans who participated in the unique project.

Selected design talent includes major names such as Karen Walker representing New Zealand, Behno representing India, and Burberry and Stella McCartney representing the UK. An edited collection of the looks will be retailed in September on MATCHESFASHION.COM.

Livia Firth, Founder and Creative Director, Eco-Age, says: “This is a project rich in partnerships, ideas exchange and creative co-design. For example, one of our very talented designers from India is paired with an artisan group in Tuvalu. As someone who is passionate about joining the threads of global fashion and creating real partnerships you can imagine how exciting it is to see The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange come to life and now available for everyone to discover on Google Arts & Culture”.

The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange brings the values of the modern-day Commonwealth – women’s empowerment, ethical production and supply chains, innovation, economic growth and poverty reduction – to life through the globally appealing medium of fashion.

The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange has been made possible by Swarovski, The Woolmark Company and MATCHESFASHION.COM.
