Apple Original Films has unveiled the trailer for The Last First: Winter K2, a new documentary directed by Amir Bar-Lev. The film will premiere globally on Apple TV on October 2, 2026.

The Last First: Winter K2 examines the changing culture and high-stakes world of extreme mountain climbing through the story of a 2021 expedition to K2, the world’s second-highest mountain.
The documentary follows Icelandic mountaineer John Snorri Sigurjónsson and the Pakistani father-and-son team of Ali and Sajid Sadpara as they attempt to become the first climbers to summit K2 during winter. The expedition takes place under some of the mountain’s most severe conditions.
As the climbers make their way up the mountain, they encounter influencer climbers and their film crews, commercial expedition clients, and a Nepalese team increasingly unwilling to remain in supporting roles while Western climbers pursue mountaineering achievements.
Against the backdrop of K2’s unpredictable weather and extreme conditions, the film explores the challenges surrounding modern high-altitude climbing, including questions of strategy and determination, class and caste, money and power. The expedition ultimately unfolds under circumstances where decisions can have life-or-death consequences.
