This new fantasy TV series with a stellar cast is part of the 65th BFI London Film Festival (October 2021) for their first ever LFF SERIES programme, a selection of 8 brand new international works made in the episodic form. Produced by Les Films de l’Instant and co-produced by ARTE France and Versus Production, THE ROPE is co-written and directed by Dominique Rocher, and boasts a strong international cast featuring established stars and rising new talents. WILD BUNCH TV is handling worldwide sales.

A small group of scientists on a remote base in Norway uncovers a mysterious rope, apparently endless, skirting their observatory and disappearing into the vast expanse of surrounding forest. Some will follow it, others will remain. As the initial fascination transforms into a quest to unravel the mystery, all will be confronted with the life-changing consequences of their choices.

This event TV series, with its original blend of fantasy and suspense, will without a doubt keep audiences on the edge of their seats and confront them with the same question facing our protagonists – how far are they willing to go to satisfy their curiosity.

Directed by Dominique Rocher – acclaimed for his debut feature The Night Eats the World, and adapted from Stefan aus dem Siepen’s novel, THE ROPE is supported by an incredible international cast: Suzanne Clément (Mommy, Les hauts et les bas de Sophie Paquin TV series), Jakob Cedregren (The Guilty, The Killing TV Series), Richard Sammel (The Strain TV series, Un village français TV series), Jean-Marc Barr (The Big Blue, Bad Banks TV series), Jeanne Balibar (Barbara) alongside rapidly rising young talents Christa Théret, Tom Mercier and Planitia Kenese.

After making its worldwide premiere at Series Mania 2021, THE ROPE will be screened on Thursday, 7 October 2021 (20:40 – NFT3) and on Saturday, 9 October 2021 (15:00 – Prince Charles).
Director and co-writer Dominique Rocher and co-writer Eric Forestier will attend the Festival.

The series will be broadcast on ARTE during the 1st half of 2022.
