Women are once again the protagonists at the Lido of Venice during the 78th edition of the Venice Film Festival. The awards ceremony for the Women in Cinema Award will be held on 7 September at the Entertainment Organization at the Hotel Excelsior, an award conceived and presented by Claudia Conte, in collaboration with an all-female academy of illustrious journalism pens. WiCA, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, was created to enhance and pay homage to the talent and value of women, mainly within the film industry and the world of the arts, but also with a strong focus on the social and business world. An award that aims to be a small piece of the great mosaic of equal opportunities. Among the winners, the famous stylist Alberta Ferretti, the Bosnian director Jasmila Žbanić formerly the Golden Bear in Berlin, the French actress Virginie Efira, the President of the Experimental Center of Cinematography Marta Donzelli and the writer Nadia Terranova, different ways in which one has female talent declined.

This year, special recognition also goes to two Afghan Resilience personalities, director Shahrbanoo Sadat and activist Zahara Ahmadi. “We want to send a signal to say that Afghan women, the most fragile and in danger at the moment, must not be left alone. By rewarding Shahrbanoo Sadat and Zahara Ahmadi we are ideally close to all their Afghan sisters who remained in the country “, these are the words of Claudia Conte, the young woman involved in this award dedicated to female empowerment.
