Again, Rosemary Lloyd has shocked us all, winning a worldly title, it seems she cannot do any wrong, she has everything going for her that is a modelling career spanning over 13 years, feature film actress, Entrepreneur, multi-award-winning title holder and published poet. Between all her successes, she is also balancing a degree in psychology and Neuroscience! How does she do it? Rosemary says, ‘I schedule and plan every aspect of my life to keep disciplined. I also segregate my to-do list, from most urgent to least urgent.I set personal deadlines and targets for myself’ that’s how I manage everything”. Rosemary just keeps going strength to strength, here we find out more and have an inside peek of Rosemary’s journey becoming the newly crowned miss worldwide 2017/18. We find out how much work a contestant must go through in pageantry. And one thing for sure it is not easy.
Rosemary firstly went through an online application under DQ events website, submitting answers about herself, where she like to represent. When her application was approved, she then had to secure a sponsorship. This can be a company, friend or relative. Rosemary’s dress sponsor was ‘Forever DevineLondon’ who specialises in custom gowns. Rosemary Graced the stage in a replica of the Cinderella gown, from the live action film starring British actress Lily James. Rosemary had a total of three months to plan and prepare everything. Over the period of 12 weeks, Rosemary made several charitable public appearances. Rosemary also appeared in a one-off documentary for the ‘cats protection centre charity’ filmed by award-winning team ‘Fotorender’.
Rosemary also is an M.E activist and a member of the M.E association. Rosemary not only had to support and raise money for charities, whilst giving public appearances. She also had to do training which involves posture techniques, walking, dance choreography,
interview skills, pageant questions, a talent round and making a dress completely out of ECO fashion.
The international finals were held in England (Blackpool) near Pleasure Beach. Rosemary was competing with all different contestants coming from all different backgrounds. Rosemary represented London England.
Arriving the previous day, Rosemary Actually arrived in Blackpool to learn that
Her hotel accommodation was cancelled! Rosemary mentions, how distressing it was to find alternative accommodation at such a short notice, as most hotels were full. However, her and her father eventually found a hotel overlooking the Blackpool tower. Rosemary then settled in the hotel like every other contestant hoping to place at Miss Worldwide 2017!
On the competition day, arrival was at 10 am for registration.It then followed by pageant rehearsals, talent round rehearsals, lunch and then by being interviewed by 5 judges. Eventually, the show started. Altogether there were six rounds.
Interview Round
Over the course of 15-minutes interview, Rosemary had to enter the room being complete herself.-Expressing who she is. She firstly had to introduce herself to the judges by name, and what city and country she was representing. Then Rosemary was asked a series of questions by the judges. Ranging from her knowledge of what’s happening in the world, her knowledge in charity work, about her career, achievements, what are her aspirations, future goals and why she decided to enter?After her interview, Rosemary answered all questions and then shook hands with all the judges calling in the next contestant. Rosemary admits, being so nervous her legs would not stop shaking. But feeling her interview went well overall.For her interview, Rosemary wore a two-piece black suit from ‘Ted Baker’ with black formal office heals from 5thAvenue (New York). Her hair was down with a beautifully perfected curl and slightly backcombed.Rosemary used a hair company she previously modelled with, Umberto Gianni backcomb spray. To finish her look, she wore her great aunts 1950’s stud earrings. Giving an all-day time look.
IntroductoryOpening Round
Rosemary opened the show with an opening ceremony with all the contestants.This followed with an opening dance routine by 1980’s dance track ‘Fame’. Rosemary was then invited back on stage to introduce herself to the judges. This involved greeting the audience and judges, giving her name, age, her candidate number (34) and which City and Country she was representing. This round concluded by giving the judges an introductory walk. Rosemary wore a red fitted knee length on one shoulder dress. This dress was given to her as a gift from Fotorender filming and photography services.She also completed her look with 1950’s style black and red heals with printed cherries on. This is not the traditional look of Beauty Queens. Yet Rosemary felt she wanted to bring out her personality more. Rather than going for simple nude heals. Her hair was sleek in a high ponytail, backcombed with loose curls. For her makeup, she went for a slightly heavier look, with red lips a light brown Smokey eye. Jewellery by juicy couture.
Eco Fashion Round
Over the period of three months, Rosemary had to make an ECO outfit consisting of recycled materials. To promote recycling and testing the contestants’ creativity. Rosemary’s ECO outfit was inspired by 18th-century fashion and ‘Mother Nature’. Rosemary wanted to combine both.The message she wanted to convey was greener and reduce CO2 emissions. Rosemary’s 18th century inspired dress was made from the wallpaper of the world map, the coloured paper was added for thrill trimmings, a recycled plastic earth globe was added on the hat, flowers and recycled lights. Other materials were staples, cello tape and glue. To finish the look ofRosemary, wore an 18th inspired necklace, that was made from recycled silver. Her hair was down and curled followed by ECO hat.
Evening dress round
Evening round Involved a choreographed walk, applying a circling kind of movement. Notably famous in pageant history. The evening dress round was a slow walk, maintaining a smile and posture at certain points of the stage, acknowledging not only the judges, also the audience. Rosemary Wore an elegant Royal blue sleeveless ball gown, with a crystal embellishment around the waist, by ‘Alyce Paris’. She wore 6ins black heels from Aldo, her hair was once again sleeked back into bulging curls. Topped by a Juicy Couture necklace and earrings. Rosemary’smakeup included the highlighter, dark red lips, black Smokey eyes. Products she used were all from the nu skin range.
Talent round
Rosemary believes this was the most nerve wrecking round. As she had to perform in front of a live audience! Rosemary chose for her talent, to sing a cover of Michael Jacksons ‘Human Nature’. Her performance lasted around 3 minutes. Where judges had to score her. Rosemary chose to sing the song Human Nature, to send out a message that “making an influential change starts by the nature of the human, look to your own human nature, seek counsel, and make a change in yourself before you can take on the world”. Rosemary wore her dress sponsor ‘Forever Devine London’ gown. A Cinderella inspired ball gown from the live action film.Rosemary had her hair backcombed and very curly. Shoes she wore were the traditional pageant nude heal by Aldo. Her jewellery was Swarovski custom made. Rosemary’s makeup look looks like she went for a light red lip, a bronze look and a little blue added to the Smokey eye.
Results
Finally, the judges went away to compare scores and consider the winner. Rosemary was called back on the stage with other contestants after. Rosemary admits, that she felt so nervous, her tummy was in knots! Yet she kept herself composed on stage. During the prizes, Rosemary at first won best Eco fashion round in the Miss division! Rosemary says “I was so happy to win the ECO round because being ECO-friendly help prevents and tackles the issues of surrounding animals who are endangered by the plastic, such as marine life. So, to win that round was such an honour to me as it’s a powerful message raise awareness”. Finally, at the end of the Miss division announcing 3rd place and 2ndplace. Rosemary never thought in a million years she would win the title Miss worldwide 2017. Rosemary held hands with the girls supporting one another. Then the presenter said, and your miss worldwide is…
Rosemary!Rosemary was in disbelief, she was in so much shock she placed her hand over her mouth and started has tears of joy. Rosemary says “To hear my name being called out as the winner of Miss worldwide 2017, felt like an outer body experience. Everything went in slow motion, as
though I was in a dream. I couldn’t believe it. It didn’t feel real. All I could think of was how thankful I was to the people who supported me on this journey. I never thought I would come this far in the competition. It really was a dream come true.”
On the announcement of winners, in dedication to her dress designer sponsor Rochelle who owns ‘Forever Devine London,’ she decided to wear the custom-made Cinderella ball gown. Sleeked back curls, jewellery of ‘Juicy Couture’, shoes by ‘Ted Baker ‘and makeup giving a porcelain doll-like look, with rouged cheeks, dark brown Smokey eyes and pinking red lips.
Rosemary will now go on to compete at Miss International Elite in Gibraltar for 5 days next year.
