Wes Nelson’s remarkable journey to chart-topping singer-songwriter continues to captivate audiences worldwide. With over 1.3 billion global streams and hit singles in 10 countries, Wes Nelson has swiftly established himself as a formidable force on the scene. Today marks the release of his latest single, ‘Barcelona,’ alongside production duo, Billen Ted. Wes’ first single since signing with RCA UK, and banging summer staple, samples an early 2000s classic by D Kay, Epsilon & Stamina. Listen [HERE].
Of the new single, Wes states, “When I heard the original it really resonated with me. I knew I wanted to put my own spin on it, but keep the core of what made the original an anthem. For me it’s a fun, exciting, summer tune and Billented have smashed bringing it up to date.”
Based around the iconic 2003 chart hit, Wes and Billen Ted completely reimagine a classic dancefloor filler. After testing the track live at Ibiza Rocks for the very first time, Wes found himself on a spontaneous fan-led trip to the capital which he documented in full to his nearly three million eagerly awaiting social media followers. The track follows Wes’ previous single “Abracadabra” with Craig David, which was a UK top 40 hit, and reached #1 on Global’s Big Top 40.
Billen Ted have collaborated, produced and written records for the likes of Annie Marie & Aitch (‘Psycho’), Armin Van Buuren, 220 Kid (‘Don’t Need Love’), MNEK and Sleepwalkrs amongst many others. Since the release of their first record ‘Satisfied’ the UK #1 selling producer-artists have received a Brits Nomination and worked with Rudimental on “Dancing Is Healing” and “Green & Gold”.
Wes Nelson’s passion for music can be traced back to his childhood. Before the world knew his name, Wes spent Friday nights captivating his family with performances on a bright red plastic karaoke machine. While music has always been his first love, Wes’s path to stardom was far from conventional. A gifted sportsperson and academic, Wes balanced a promising football career, Muay Thai kickboxing, and a stint as a Nuclear System Design Engineer before fully committing to his musical ambitions. Wes’s entry into the music industry was met with immediate success. His debut single ‘See Nobody,’ featuring Hardy Caprio, achieved UK platinum status and peaked at #3 on the UK charts. Collaborations with artists such as Yxng Bane (‘Nice To Meet Ya’) and Clean Bandit (‘Drive’) garnered hundreds of millions of streams and charted in multiple countries.
Wes’s dedication to his craft is evident in his relentless work ethic and his decision to turn down lucrative brand and TV deals to focus solely on music. “I’ve done a lot in 26 years,” Wes reflects. “Music is the only thing that really resonated. This is not a passion project, a whim, or a gimmick. I’m in this for the long haul.”
