Toni-Ann Singh the 23 years old model has won the 2019 Miss World competition which happened in London on 14th of December. Peter Andre and former Miss World Megan Young were the hosts of this year’s competition. Miss France, Ophély Mézino won the 2nd place, and Miss India, Suman Rao won the 3rd place.
The 69th edition of this competition was a brilliant night with a diversity of young beautiful models, however, the one who succeeded to stand out and win the title among other 111 contestants and to become the fourth Jamaican to win this beauty competition since 1993; was a young psychology student from Florida with Jamaican origins. The young model also who has studied classical singing has also performed ‘I Have Nothing’ from Whitney Houston which causes intense impressions from the crowd and mostly the judges.
The most emotional moment was the post in her twitter account after her winning: ‘’To that little girl in St. Thomas, Jamaica and all the girls around the world – please believe in yourself. Please know that you are worthy and capable of achieving your dreams. This crown is not mine but yours. You have a PURPOSE.’’She has admitted that her role model and the person that she motivates her is her mother Jahrine Bailey-Singh who they have a strong relationship as she feels grateful that her mother has made many sacrifices to give her a better life. The crown was given from Vanessa Ponce the Miss Universe 2018, the beautiful model welcomed the crowd and she congratulated the new prettiest woman of the world of 2019.
Moreover, the young lady admitted that this was one of the biggest achievements of her life until now and she wants to use it in order to make a change in the world. Particularly she said “I want to make a change that’s sustainable. So if we’re talking women… it needs to be something that will make sure that their children and their children’s children have a different value of life”.
Jamaican people watched the competition and felt very proud of her winning. The whole twitter was speaking about how important is that tittle for the African culture/heritage and how happy are that the stereotypes in the beauty field have been abolished.
The woman seems to be very humble and loved by the young generation and she thanks everyone who helped her to achieve her dreams. It is safe to say that we are waiting to see much campaigns from this model and she will be in the spotlight really soon!
