He is not just one of the most requested aesthetics doctors but he is also booked by VIPs, celebrities, popular icons, television stars and influencers and his Instagram account @drahmedaesthetics has more than 620k followers.

One of the most recent trends Dr Ahmed has seen in 2020 is ‘Zoom Face’ –with a 48% rise in professionals seeking aesthetics treatments to ensure they are ‘zoom ready’.

Dr Ahmed says: “Pre-lockdown we would rarely look at ourselves as much as we do now. As large numbers of professionals are still working from home and holding meetings over Zoom, often with the video function on, they are seeing their face onscreen sometimes for 3-4 hours a day in the glare of a laptop screen. It’s leading to a large number of people scrutinising their faces and noticing areas they would like to treat.”

Tear trough filler is one of the most popular treatments, with Dr. Ahmed seeing a 65% rise in bookings compared to pre-lockdown.

This treatment involves delicately injecting hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers into the under eye area. It helps to add volume and plump the hollows under the eyes, reduces dark circles, increases collagen production and skin quality, reduces lines and wrinkles and rejuvenates tired eyes.

Dermal fillers produce natural-looking, instant results. While the effect is noticeable immediately, the final result will usually be visible at around two weeks. This is because the skin needs time to relax, smooth and allow the fillers to integrate properly with the surrounding tissue, achieving optimum hydration balance.

Although there is no downtime and regular activities can resume immediately after having filler, there may be some slight bruising or swelling for the first hours after the treatment.

Dr Ahmed advises people should resist touching the area for at least six hours following the treatment and avoid using make-up. After this time, they can gently wash the area with soap and water, keeping with their same skincare routine. Patients should also avoid alcohol for two days and are advised to stay out of extreme heat e.g. sauna, sunbeds, tanning or coldness for two weeks.

Dr Ahmed continues: “Many clients have fed back to me they like not worrying about putting make up on every day like they did when they were office-based – but then a zoom meeting would  be scheduled, and they would dash around beforehand ensuring they looked presentable. Having the treatments means they are ‘zoom ready’ at any moment. Many have also said it’s helped them feel more confident on the work calls as well.”
