According to the latest GB Driving License Data from Gov.uk, over 40 million people in Great Britain hold a full driving license. That’s a lot of people that should know a thing or two about cars.

HOWEVER, new research by private reg company click4reg.co.uk has found a large majority of people in Britain rely on the power of Google search to provide them with the answers they need when it comes to the day-to-day running and care of their car.

To achieve the data, click4reg.co.ukinputted “how to” and selected “car” in the keyword analytics section of online visibility and marketing tool SEM Rush. The 15 most common searches were extracted and listed (see below.) Please note: ‘volume’ is the average number of monthly searches for a given keyword over a 12-month period.

The Most Commonly Searched Car Questions on Google:

Click4reg.co.uk found the number one motor vehicle query Brits ask Google is ‘how to jump start a car.’ In fact, 9,900 people in Great Britain type this query into the Google search bar every month.

The concept of driving an automatic is baffling to many, with 3,600 Brits turning to the search bar each month to find out more.

Formalities such as ‘how to tax a car’ (4,400), ‘how to get cheap car insurance’ (2,900) and ‘how to sorn a car’ (2,400) are common searches too.

Aesthetic queries like ‘how to clean car seats’, ‘how to remove scratches from the car’ and ‘how to wash a car’ each garner 1,600 searches a month.

While it was found 1,000 Britons ask Google ‘how to have sex in a car’ every single month.
