‘One Battle After Another’ Leads as LGBTQ Critics Honor the Year’s Best Films
Los Angeles – January 14, 2026
GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics has officially announced the nominations for the 2026 Dorian Film Awards, celebrating the best in mainstream and LGBTQ-themed cinema. Director Paul Thomas Anderson’s dystopian thriller One Battle After Another leads the nominations with nine nods, followed closely by Ryan Coogler’s vampire mystery Sinners with eight, and Josh Safdie’s satire Marty Supreme with five.
GALECA is the second-largest entertainment critics organization in the world and is known for spotlighting both major studio releases and under-recognized LGBTQ stories.
Acting Categories Highlight Big Names
In GALECA’s gender-neutral acting categories, several major stars earned nominations for Film Performance of the Year, including Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Tessa Thompson (Hedda), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), Amanda Seyfried (The Testament of Ann Lee), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), and Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You).
The Supporting Film Performance category includes Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners), and Teyana Taylor, who also recently won a Golden Globe.
Strong Showing for LGBTQ Cinema
In the LGBTQ Film of the Year race, nominees include Sorry, Baby, Pillion, Hedda, Blue Moon, and Twinless. Writer-director-star Eva Victor emerged as a standout, earning four nominations for Sorry, Baby, while Sinners director Ryan Coogler received three nods across categories.
GALECA also continued its tradition of honoring less-publicized films, recognizing titles such as The Testament of Ann Lee, Viet and Nam—a Vietnamese love story banned in its home country—and the stalker comedy Twinless.
Camp, Genre, and Studio Standouts
GALECA’s fan-favorite Campiest Flick category includes Wicked: For Good, Final Destination: Bloodlines, Weapons, and The Housemaid.
By studio count, Warner Bros. Pictures leads with 21 nominations, followed by A24 with 14, and Neon with 10.
Special Awards and Quotes
Emerging talents Odessa A’zion, Miles Caton, and Chase Infiniti were nominated for Rising Star of the Year, while artists such as Pedro Pascal, Cynthia Erivo, and Ryan Coogler earned nominations for the Wilde Artist Award, honoring bold and groundbreaking creatives.
“Across genres and borders, LGBTQ filmmakers and performers are telling stories that are bold, personal, and adventurous,” said GALECA Vice President Gerrick Kennedy. “These nominations don’t just reflect the moment—they challenge and expand it.”
Winners to Be Announced in March
The winners will be revealed on March 3, 2026, during the Dorian Film Toast, GALECA’s first in-person Los Angeles event since 2020. The recipient of the Timeless Star career achievement award will also be announced at that time.
