INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION · DISTRIBUTION SUPPORT AWARD

45th EDITION OF THE FESTIVAL DES 3 CONTINENTS

A new prize to support film distribution sponsored by SIX ARES – AVENTIM Group, an active promoter from Nantes

For the first time, the professional jury of the Festival des 3 Continents will award the Distribution Support Award, donated by SIX ARES – AVENTIM Group, to one of the feature films in its prestigious international competition.

The 45th edition of the festival, dedicated to the cinema of Africa, Asia and Latin America, will be held from 24 November to 3 December 2023 in Nantes, France.

The Distribution Support Award aims to support the distribution of the winning film in French cinemas. By associating itself with the Festival des 3 Continents, the property developer SIX ARES – AVENTIM Group, a new partner of the festival, wishes to contribute to the discovery and visibility of original and contemporary works on the big screen.

The French distributor of the winning film will receive an endowment of 3,000 euros, offered by SIX ARES, AVENTIM Group.

“The Distribution Support Award is something we’ve been thinking about for a long time, and SIX ARES is making it possible this year,” explains Jérôme Baron, artistic director of the festival. “Often the films in competition that we show in Nantes don’t have a distributor in France, or their distributors need support in their bold choices. The Distribution Support Award is a direct help for the distributor. It enables the distributor to position itself and the film to be released in French cinemas.”

“As a major player in the Nantes area, we are delighted to be able to support emerging films by sponsoring the Festival des 3 Continents. It’s also a nod to our “Synopsys” operation, as we’re setting up an art-house cinema on the Cour des 50 Otages (Nantes). Art has always been part of our sensibility“, explains Arnaud Michel-Courty, Managing Director of the Bretagne – Loire Atlantique Region of the AVENTIM Group and founder of SIX ARES.

Each year, a selection of around ten films, presented as French premieres, is submitted to a professional jury. The Distribution Support Award will be granted alongside the Montgolfière d’Or and the Montgolfière d’Argent, as well as the Audience Award and the Young Jury Award.

The main lines of the programming of the Festival des 3 Continents will be announced shortly, and the Official Selection, including the International Competition, will be revealed at a press conference on 9 November 2023.
