Gizem Kuzyaka was born in 2001 in Turkey and has searched for meaning in life for as long as she can remember. The most important thing for her was to understand people. She always had an interest in the sacred history of Anatolia due to her temperament.
She started to improve herself in handicrafts with the guidance of her family and teachers. She studied at the Fine Arts High School and participated in painting exhibitions and competitions throughout her education life. While she was studying design, she participated in several trainings, seminars, exhibitions, and competitions. I also got some awards in competitions. Her latest graduate project was also widely covered in the press.
What is your understanding of design, sources of inspiration, and basic principles?
There are many subjects that inspire me. Some of these are mythological stories with different origins. Some of our social problems. For example, gender equality. Some are all about understanding… So what, why, how, where, when, and who do I ask these questions (to myself and my environment)
I want to know and learn. Because I think life is a school until death and it always teaches us a lesson. I think every person’s story is as valuable as a good or bad novel. As a Fashion Designer, I make each collection in a story concept. My basic principles are very clear and precise.
It is very important for me that all the clothes, costumes, evening dresses, and wedding dresses I design are wearable.
At the same time, I take my awareness out of the ordinary with the quality of fabric, the use of different accessories, and the use of different materials. A strong and elegant appearance is always very important.
Turning any concept into a design and then into a product is a very important issue for me. I especially think that every collection should have a meaning or a message.
Reaching the desired target audience for the designs is one of my most important principles for me.
