The theme of every season by APUJAN is inspired by literature, and associated with literary allusions, chaotic timelines and imaginations with the parallel worlds. APUJAN creates fantasy worlds mixed with different times. For AW20, APUJAN has created an imaginary world behind the imaginary world and offers the audiences a glimpse of the storybook.
APUJAN collections have been featured in major fashion and design publications including Fabuk, Vogue Taiwan, Vogue Australia, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, WALLPAPER*, i-D, Huffington Post and Marie Claire.
The AW20 collection called ‘The Cloud-making Factory’ features motifs such as factories, gears, chimneys, robots, computer graphics and discovering the places that made the clouds, stardust and moons. In the imaginary world, at the source of all wonderful things, a large number of machines are in operation producing clouds and the starry sky.
APUJAN reintroduces original jacquard fabric, including specialised materials such as digital and transparent embroidery and 3-D jacquard. The patterns of this season also include digital clouds produced by computer software, which hint that everything we see was drawn behind the theme. APUJAN continues his collaboration with NIKE, who have provided footwear for the show, with styles that connect with and echo the design of the clothes. The designs continue to embed traditional oriental details onto modern clothing.
APUJAN welcomed Taiwanese R&B singer, Julia Wu as this season’s special guest. Julia Wu graduated from the prestigious Berklee School of Music and who competed in ‘The X Factor’ in Australia and who appeared in the second season of hit reality TV show ‘Miss Korea’, which is produced by CJ E&M, the biggest entertainment company in South Korea. Julia Wu has released 3 albums since 2017 and has collaborated with various artists such as Taichi Mukai and international producer StarRo on their single ‘Rendezvous’. More recently, Julia released a single ‘Take Me Back’ featuring Yellow Claw and CORASK. Also in attendance was Taiwanese writer Chiang Xun with music was provided by DJ QuestionMark.
