Malan Breton

Malan Breton showcases two collections this season, his Malan Breton collection showed at New York Fashion week at Madison Square Gardens and his Fantome collection was showcased in London at the Freemasons Hall.

Malan wrote “The New York collection reflects the current affairs in America, it is completely devoid of colour, as I feel the arts, and fashion, are being crushed here by the new regime. It is no longer a place of freedom, and this has hurt many. Leaving us feeling cold and lost. Especially those of us who emigrated here, who no longer feel welcome. The NY collection symbolises death and the end of a love affair with hope.” Malan’s speaks of his Fantome collection that he has chosen to show in London in a more hopeful and calming tone, “The colour palette for London and the patterns are reminiscent of Chinese watercolours and imperial prints in wood stain colours, and classic green, with tonal elements of pewter and apricot. The silhouettes are like liquid, second skins to the body, the suiting details inspired by pagodas in Taiwan, and an ode to the future, in an Orwellian fantasy…”

Malan Breton’s New York collection was shown at Madison Square Gardens infront of 5000 people, the only other two designers to show here have been Kanye West and Tommy Hillfiger. The New York show was a political reflection, a performance and a huge message.

Dans La Vie
In a stagnant sea of block colours, clean lines and cold geometric shapes, Dans La Vie refreshingly stands out with it’s rebellious nature of clashing prints, hues and textures. Designer Rira Sugwara says she has consistently used prints in her collections as she wants to push the boundaries of what is considered beauty. She wants to redefine the norm, by creating a collection made of adventurous combinations of animal prints and discording florals.

Inspired by cinema, art and sculpture, designed by his otherworldly imagination. Paying no attention to trends, and showing outside of the fashion box, it is a testament to Mark’s talent. Making up for his absence, the “sculptor of bodies” has created one of his strongest and most personal collections to be revealed this season.
