‘Bat Out of Hell’ is back in town – and hold on tight – you’re going to get the ride of your life!

Based off the late Meatloafs album of the same name, ‘Bat Out of Hell’ is a superb rock-n-roll love story – set to the classic songs from the album.
Now playing at the Peacock theatre until June 7th, Raven (Katie Tonkinson)is in love with a boy from the wrong side of the tracks – Strat (Glenn Adamson). Strat hangs out with a very rough crowd, a group of outcasts called The Lost. Raven’s parents Falco (Rob Fowler), and her mother Sloane (Sharon Sexton), are so overprotective of Raven that they, especially Falco, forbids her from seeing Strat. Of course Raven will do anything to see him, so she sneaks out at night (in her cleverly designed bedroom) to be with Strat, but there is a snitch in Strat’s gang who ends up telling Falco where Raven and Strat are. You can pretty much tell what’s going to happen next – Falco goes in search of his daughter, and all hell breaks loose -and it’s great fun! With fantastic lighting that electrifies the stage, the very energetic and young cast dash and jump all over – it’s theatre on speed and the audience gets to sit back and enjoy. The scenes with the car in the middle of the stage are great. While the plot is thin and very predictable, the show more than makes up for it overall with the visuals and musical aspects.
‘Bat Out of Hell’ was born, literally, close to 50 years ago, when musician Meatloaf (along with composer Jim Steinman) released the seminal and massive selling record that went on to sell millions and millions of albums around the world. Songs such as “You Took the Words Right Out of my Mouth,” “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad,” and the most famous one – “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” – that are still popular even today, are all in the show.
As ‘Bat Out of Hell’ the show celebrates its 8th anniversary, you owe it to yourself to go and see it – it’s heart pounding and explosive – and it’s fantastic!
