Stage Entertainment, the leading musical theatre production company responsible for hits such as TINA – The Tina Turner Musical and Anastasia, announce the cast and creative team for the upcoming world premiere of EL ALMA AL AIRE.

    El Alma al Aire

EL ALMA AL AIRE is an original production by Stage Entertainment, featuring some of the most iconic songs from Alejandro Sanz’s career. The book for the musical is written by Álvaro Tato (Tebanas, Burro, Todas hieren y una mata), will be directed by Jonathan Kent (Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, Long Day’s Journey into Night) with choreography by Lynne Page (Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Standing at the Sky’s Edge), musical supervision by Nick Skilbeck (Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical), set design by Tom Pye (Paddington, My Neighbour Totoro), sound design by Nevin Steinberg (Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen), and lighting design by Hugh Vantone (Back to the Future, Matilda).

Award-winning librettist Alvaro Tato has written a beautiful tale that takes us to a fishing village where characters from different generations face decisions that will mark their destiny.

Starring Pepe Null (Evita, Into the Woods, Grease, Godspell) as Ale, Amanda Digón (Dusty, West Side Sory, Dirty Dancing, Cabaret) as She, Natan Cut (Oliver Twist, Pretty Woman, Ghost, Billy Elliot) as Bruno, Lydia Fairén (Wicked, Gypsy, Company, MAMMA MIA!) as Sandy, Antonio MM as Fisherman (Fame The Musical, The Sound of Music, Dirty Dancing, El Médico), Inma ‘La Carbonera’ (international Spanish Flamenco career performing in Europe, Asia, America, Africa and Australia) as Levante, Miriam Madrid (Billy Elliot, Fame, Snow White Boulevard, My Fair Lady) as Soul, Inés León (MAMMA MIA!, We Will Rock You, Peter Pan, Beethoven for Elisa) as Loneliness and Hugo Ruiz (Godspell, Gypsy, The Phantom of the Opera, Matilda) as Jamie.

Tali Pelman (Group Creative Director of Stage Entertainment) said “We have been searching for some time for that special opportunity to develop an original new musical in Spain.  We wanted to find an idea that came from Spain and would feel both personal and exceptional for our Spanish audiences.  Alejandro Sanz’s music is the soundtrack of several generations.  To tell a quintessentially Spanish story and connect directly with all those generations through his evocative music is that one in a million we are searching for.”

Yolanda Pérez Abejón (General Director of Stage Entertainment Spain) said “Stage Entertainment has led the musical market in Spain for over 25 years.  We are thrilled that in the next two years we will open our third theatre: the Stage Gran Teatro Musical and open our first originally produced musical, something that we have never done before. And that’s when you think big. Who is the best composer, the Spanish artist who has been successful for decades? We aimed for the top and we were very lucky because Alejandro was interested and involved from the beginning of the project.”
