‘Life goes on’ is an indie rock/pop track infused with soulful vocals. It’s about ending a long-term relationship and the sorrow of trying to be pulled back when the feelings are not mutual; of being somewhat stranded, but also about moving on. The song combines melodic guitar solos with soulful vocals and a feature bass that drives the track. Tapping into universal themes the track brings rock n’ soul influences and possesses the eclectic, unique yet familiar sound that has become a hallmark for Piperlain.
“Life goes on’ is based on a personal story of ending long-term relationships. There’s a time in between when a relationship ends and a new one starts, where you feel stranded in your emotions. It can produce mixed feelings of sorrow but also a desire to break free and move forward without regret.
While there’s a groovy bass that drives the song, ultimately, it tells the story of loss and sorrow through emotional vocal lines that are raw and soulful, culminating in a sense of release and freedom at the end. We wanted to give it a nostalgic, retro feel and were mindful of the production. Our aim was to keep it organic, to reflect real life and capture the human emotion.”
