    • British public worry they don’t smile enough
    • World Smile Day encourages smiles to spread across the globe
    • Research reveals why smiles are lacking across the UK

To celebrate World Smile Day on Friday 6th October, White Glo’s new research proves why Brits should embrace this day and take on the challenge of making at least one other person smile.

Unfortunately, only 28% attempt to smile at someone at least once a day, despite 63% admitting that being smiled at brightens their day.

Further still, over half (52%) smile most when they make others smile, with nearly 20% (18.75%) worrying that they don’t smile enough.

It is clear that the UK want to smile more and should be using this day to embrace a bright white smile.

The research also looked in to the reasons why Brits may not be flashing their smiles as much as they would like, with confidence in their teeth proving to be a hindering factor.

Surprisingly, 33% are unhappy with how their teeth look, with 35-44 year olds proving to be the unhappiest as only 21% are happy with their set.

When it comes to colour, more than 75% (75.3%) are unhappy, with 35-44 years showing again to be the most dissatisfied age group.

White Glo’s dental expert Dr Georgio Sotriopoulos explains the simple ways to show off a confident smile “If you are happy with how your teeth look, it will show in your smile. The good news is that there are so many options available which can make a real difference in a short space of time. The research shows a huge number of people are unhappy with the colour of their teeth, something that can be fixed without visiting a dentist. Choosing an at home whitening kit which contains the same ingredients the professionals use is a great place to start.”

As if the fact that it is Friday isn’t a big enough reason to smile, World Smile Day is the one day of the year to embrace those pearly whites and brighten up someone else’s day.
