The great adventure of Stefano Gregoretti and Ray Zahab

Life is an adventure to live is the philosophy that feeds the soul and spirit of Stefano Gregoretti and Ray Zahab, two modern explorers who love adventure and the most inhospitable places on the planet. In fact, a fundamental element of human history is exploration, and it is precisely this philosophy that feeds the choices of the two modern explorers, true lovers of “Trail running“.

Stefano and Ray left Italy on 5 July to conquer the “Death Valley Traverse 2022“, and today, Thursday 7 July 2022, their unpredictable and fascinating crossing begins. For this occasion the goal of the two explorers will be to attempt the integral crossing of Death Valley, in the American national park of the same name, from the west border to the east border, in the hottest month along the tracks just indicated, canyons and burning plains. The crossing will be completely unsupported, with water supplies every 15-20 km hidden and geo-referenced in the desert that must be mandatory to continue.

The distance will be approximately 130 km in the hottest month of the year. Last year, an abnormal heat wave above average, which reached 61 degrees, forced the Zahab – Laughlin team to derive the expedition due to the impossibility of reaching the water checkpoints.

Risks and dangers

Due to the extreme temperatures, the consumption of liquids to rehydrate will be around 90 litres per person. A round of water for the body greater than one’s own body weight. The team will be joined at some points by a documentary maker who will be able to film and photograph the attempted crossing. National Geographic Canada and Weather Channel will be among the main partners. The Death Valley Traverse 2022, once again the great interest in this discipline and confirms a decidedly flourishing future for fans of “Trail running”.

We just have to wait …
