September 14, 2024, India/United Kingdom: India’s leading creative education institution, Pearl Academy, partnered with Fashion Week & The City (FWTC) to showcase the spectacular collections of their five alumni at the prestigious London Fashion Week 2024, a milestone achieved through an enhanced collaboration offering emerging talent a unique opportunity to debut on a global stage. The event was held on September 14, 2024, at St. John Church, Hyde Park, London.
The institution provided exclusive mentoring on campus, focusing on design, technical skills, and styling to ensure each collection was showcase-ready. The collaboration underscores Pearl Academy’s commitment to supporting upcoming designers by offering extensive mentoring and guidance. The partnership with FWTC not only provided a prestigious platform but also opened doors to invaluable industry connections. The five designers were selected based on their collections’ exquisite aesthetics, product capabilities, quality, design finish, and vision.
About the designers:
Swidhi Arora graduated in Fashion Design from Pearl Academy. Her Label Swidhi Arora is renowned for elegant, hand-embroidered clothing that blends traditional Indian styles with luxury fabrics. Her collection “Local Nation” drew inspiration from her hometown Saharanpur’s wood craftsmanship, featuring ivory and gold tones with intricate motifs of elephants and flowers. It highlighted the cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur by merging traditional artistry with contemporary fashion.
Rasook by Manit Pal Singh presented “Heritage in Harmony: A Celebration of Cultural Diversity in Wedding Wear,” showcasing men’s wedding attire influenced by Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, and Christian rituals. The collection combined luxurious fabrics like silk and velvet with intricate embroidery and a rich colour palette, blending traditional motifs with modern cuts for a stylish interpretation of wedding traditions. Manit graduated in Textile Design from Pearl Academy.
Sakshi Khetterpal’s collection “New Beginnings (Nayi Shuruaat)” merged India’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary global fashion. It explored the balance between simplicity and complexity, featuring clean lines and intricate handwork that reinterpreted classic techniques. The collection embodied timeless elegance and personal transformation, celebrating the fusion of tradition and innovation. Sakshi graduated in Fashion Design from Pearl Academy.
Saloni Arora, a Pearl Academy alumna who pursued Fashion Design, presented Label Muslin – a sustainable brand focusing on minimalist, multifunctional designs. The “Waste to Waist” collection showcases innovative corsets made from upcycled fabric scraps, combined with tailored shirts, trousers, and dresses. It blends traditional brocade with eco-friendly materials, redefining corsetry with a commitment to creativity and sustainability.
Shubh Goyal, Creative Director of FIERCE LONDON, a graduate of Fashion Luxury Brand Management from Pearl Academy presented the “Fierce Ascendancy” collection, an all-black line that combined luxury with the edgy spirit of streetwear. Crafted from fine leather, it included structured jackets, tailored trousers, and sculpted bodysuits, emphasising bold silhouettes and intricate details. This collection redefined streetwear with a focus on power, confidence, and unapologetic self-expression.
