Would-be Tinker Bells can now perfect their fairy skills while holidaying in the heart of Northumberland’s Kielder Forest Park, thanks to the new weekly Fairy School at Landal Kielder Waterside (www.landal.co.uk).

Each hour-long session encourages children aged two upwards to let their imagination run wild as they are taken under the wings of the school’s fairy friends and transported into a charming world of make-believe.

From dressing up in real fairy clothes and creating their very own magic wand to discovering where the fairies live and helping create Kielder Water and Forest Park’s very own wishing tree, this lakeside activity is sure to leave young family members spellbound.

For an alternative leap of faith in the heart of the forest, guests aged seven upwards also have the chance to unleash their inner Robin Hood with an archery class.  Alternatively, leave the everyday stress firmly behind by exploring the 27-mile shoreline of northern Europe’s largest man-made lake, taking a leisurely stroll through the woods along one of the many nature trails or unwinding in the on-site spa.

Once night falls and the kids have drifted off to never-never land, parents have the perfect chance to take full advantage of the private star gazing pod and outdoor hot tubs offered in some of their luxury lodges to marvel at the glittering skies above. Considered the darkest in England and awarded Gold Tier Dark Sky Park status by the International Dark Skies Association, the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park is the largest area of protected night sky in Europe and, at nearly 580sq miles, is the fourth largest in the world.

Prices for a four-night stay at Landal Kielder Waterside start from £669 based on four people sharing a ‘Beech Platinum Stars’ lodge, including a private star gazing pod, all the home-from-home comforts including flat screen TV’s, kitchen utensils, luxury toiletries by Rituals and an outdoor hot tub are all included. (Selected accommodation only). The Fairy School costs £7 per person for one hour and is open to children aged two upwards (adult supervision for under 16s).
