From the urban allure of the city to the tranquil coastlines and rustic countryside, New South Wales (NSW) has a knack for making visitors feel new, invigorated, and, dare we say, regal. With a rich history of hosting British Royalty, including past visits from members of the Royal Family, there’s no shortage of ways to indulge in royal experiences in Sydney and NSW.

In anticipation of an upcoming potential visit from King Charles to Sydney and NSW, we’ve put together 12 ways visitors can immerse themselves in royal splendour:

    1. Immerse yourself in the arts with a show or tour at the Sydney Opera House, a cultural icon inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II on 20 October in 1973, which has since celebrated its 50th anniversary!

    2. Explore the fashion-forward world of , a brand favoured by royals such as Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton.

    3. Follow in Prince Harry’s footsteps with a or Burrawa Climb experience on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

    4. Grab a drink at The Slip Inn, where Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark first met 22 years ago during the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and discover more of Sydney’s nightlife including new bars like Frank Mac’s in The Rocks or one of four ritzy new bars in the new Shell House.

    5. Visit the Borambola Wines cellar door in NSW’s Riverina, who not only hosted the future King Edward VIII and then, almost a century later in 2018, Prince Charles and Camilla; but also named their “Double Joy” Rose after Prince Charles exclaimed, “Double joy!” upon sipping the wine on a neighbouring homestead.

    6. Channel your inner royal with a polo match at Sydney Polo Club.

    7. Book a stay at Queen’s Cottage in Khancoban, in NSW’s Snowy Mountains, which was completed to provide accommodation for her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II when visiting the region in 1963.

    8. Shop up a storm in the name of the Queen – literally! – at the Queen Victoria Building. The ‘QVB’ as we know it, was built as a monument to the long reigning monarch 1898.

    9. Take a leisurely stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens or join an Aboriginal Harbour Heritage Tour.

    10. Treat yourself to Traditional High Tea and Champagne at the Tea Room QVB, served on authentic British silverware.

    11. Cruise Sydney Harbour like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did in 2018, and hire your own charter with local operators like EastSail or My Sydney Boat.

    12. Indulge and feel like Royalty for the night in the Sydney Suite at the Park Hyatt, equipped with your very own private terrace with 360-degree harbour views, two bedrooms, a dining table for eight and butler service.
