FJU Talents marks its 10th anniversary with a London showcase celebrating a new generation of Taiwanese designers alongside creative voices from the platform’s past decade.

Presented by the Department of Textiles and Clothing at Fu Jen Catholic University (FJU), FJU Talents has championed emerging Taiwanese fashion and textile designers on the international stage since 2016.

For its anniversary edition, FJU Talents 26 brings together new collections from Min-Hsin Yu, YUI Kao, Alison Lai and Ting Hsuan Chang, alongside selected works by previous FJU Talents designers Alison Lai, Xiaomo Chen, Zong Xing Liao, Timmy Chou, Shun An Chen and Chihwen Kuo.

The collections reveal a diverse range of creative perspectives. Ting Hsuan Chang’s Cochlea combines religious symbolism, naturalistic silhouettes and distorted knitwear, while Alison Lai examines patriarchal structures and the female body through surreal imagery and unexpected proportions.

YUI Kao’s Impulse Lover explores romance, desire and self-presentation through oversized genderless silhouettes, cord corsets and heart-shaped details. Min-Hsin Yu, meanwhile, takes inspiration from contrasting sunsets on Earth and Mars, using hand crochet, ribbon yarns and striking colour contrasts to explore individuality.

    Celebrating Ten Years of Creativity

The anniversary presentation also revisits designers who have helped shape FJU Talents over the past decade. From Xiaomo Chen’s exploration of the boundaries between humans, objects and virtual reality to Zong Xing Liao’s minimalist interpretation of Eastern Zen philosophy, the showcase demonstrates the breadth of talent nurtured by the platform.

Elsewhere, Timmy Chou draws inspiration from Indigenous culture and memories of family gatherings, Shun An Chen explores social conventions and identity, while Chihwen Kuo transforms ideas of memory, time and accumulation into intricate knitwear and tactile textile structures.

By bringing emerging designers together with alumni, FJU Talents 26 offers a compelling snapshot of how Taiwanese fashion continues to evolve through craftsmanship, cultural identity and experimentation.

After ten years of nurturing emerging talent, FJU Talents celebrates its past in London while confidently looking towards the next generation of designers.
