A gifted emerging psychotherapist from Camden, Phoebe Michaelides (27), was selected by a judging panel at Miss England last month to represent county at the prestigious Miss Cosmo International contest in Vietnam with the final taking place on the 20th December 2025.

Phoebe’s journey to this moment has been marked by profound personal strength and purpose. After losing her mother to an aggressive form of cancer that spread rapidly to her spine, Phoebe’s life was forever changed. Her mother’s final act — donating her body to medical science — became a defining inspiration.

“Witnessing that act of selflessness changed everything,” says Phoebe. “It showed me that love and meaning can survive even in loss, and that the human spirit, though fragile, can also be immeasurably strong.”

Having already earned a BSc in Nutrition, Phoebe had long been fascinated by the connection between physical health and emotional wellbeing. After her mother’s passing, she chose to deepen that understanding through a master’s degree in psychology and psychotherapy, focusing on how compassion and creative expression can foster recovery and transformation.

Alongside her academic path, Phoebe is an award-winning playwright, a TEDx speaker, and a marathon runner — a range of achievements that together reflect her belief that beauty, intellect, and purpose are inseparable. Through her own creative studio brand, Studio Michaelides, she develops projects exploring resilience, identity, and the human search for meaning.

Before travelling to Vietnam, Phoebe represented Camden in the Miss England National Final, which took place on 20th–21st November at The Grand Station, Wolverhampton finishing 3rd runner up overall. Sponsored by the White Rose Dental Company in the semi & national final of Miss England, Phoebe impressed the judges in the “Explore the Nation round” where she showcased London in association with CoCo-Moola & City Sightseeing London .

Just a few days after the Miss England final, Phoebe flew with Vietnam Airlines who treated her to a business Class upgrade & has since been competing with contestants from across the globe with the final in a series of fashion shows with Vietnamese designers cumulating on Saturday 20th December in Vietnam.

One of the highlights of the competition was on the evening of December 11, 2025, aboard the Rever Cruise on the Saigon River, the “Best of Vietnam” Season 2 Fashion Show took place, featuring the Miss Cosmo 2025 contestants showcasing Áo Dài from the “Heritage in Heritage” collection. Directed by Artisan – Designer Trung Đinh and the Trung Đinh Silk team, each handcrafted design highlighted the cultural symbols of different countries, completed after three months of relentless work, with many days extending past midnight. A standout feature was the stage, recreated to resemble the Saigon Central Post Office, a 130-year-old architectural landmark with Phoebes outfit featuring London Landmarks!

As part of her wardrobe for the 3+ week contest, Phoebe commissioned a designer to create a bespoke phoenix-inspired carnival costume — symbolising rebirth, endurance, and the triumph of spirit. The phoenix motif has become a defining thread in Phoebe’s pageant journey, representing her own transformation — the act of turning pain into purpose and emerging stronger, more compassionate, and more determined to help others rise through adversity.

Phoebe’s sponsor “ White Rose Dental Studio” has been established for more than 25 years which has set the gold standard in bespoke aesthetic dentistry in London.

On her experience so far Phoebe said “ Vietnam has been extraordinary. From the tranquillity of the Buddhist temple in Huế to the vibrant World Tea Festival in Đà Lạt and Lâm Đồng, Vietnam has offered a cultural journey of remarkable depth.

The people are incredibly proud of their heritage, and their warmth has made this journey feel very special. It’s a country undergoing impressive economic growth, yet it holds tightly to its traditions. I’ve felt welcomed at every step”
