Gary Dourdan, has been proclaimed Sex Symbol thanks to the role of the investigator Warrick Brown in “C.S.I. – Crime Scene “, with his beautiful magnetic eyes and his indisputable charm, He has enchanted women from all over the world.
During his career, the actor has taken part in many big-screen films including “Alien – The Cloning”, “Perfect Stranger” and to 23 TV series. In 2012, indeed, he is on the set of the series Christine, followed by “Mistresses” (2013) and also participates to the fifth season of “Glee” (2014), a record producer for Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley) Tv “BEING MARYJANE2 2015. For the cinema, however, he is in the cast “Five Thirteen” (2013), directed by Kader Ayd and “The Last Letter” (2013), directed by Paul D.Hannah. also for film “ REVERSION” by Director Josè Marquez and more importantly “ JUMPING THE BROOM” director Salim Akil.
Gary also boasts a career as a model, but it does not surprise us as a talented songwriter, as actually music represents his great passion. In 2015, indeed, he released the album “Mother Tongue”, which was also produced in Italy. In 2016 he cawentme back to the scene with a leading role in Niki Iliev’s “All She Wrote”. And what about 2017?
So many surprises… We meet Gary in a special interview to find out more news, future commitments and his love for Italy.
Gary, in CSI, your role as Warrick Brown has certainly given you of worldwide fame. How much are you grateful for this TV series and how much does this character reflect your personality?
CSI was a very successful series I was very proud to have worked on the show for 8 years, it reached the far corners of the world, but like any artist, I’m happy to move on to do other projects and other roles.
Is there any movie director you would like to work with? Is there an Italian movie director among your choices?
There are so many great Italian directors, Martin Scorcese, Quentin Tarantino, Francis Ford Coppola, and now Paolo Sorrentino who I think is fantastic, but of course I could list Italian directors all day long what really matters is the story..and if It would be a genuine fit and of course the lighting design must be Antonio Storaro then it will always look like a painting.
Have you always found yourself comfortable in the roles you have played?
I really Love what I do, to inhabit a role is a great discipline, I’m pleased now because the stories are getting better, It is more important for me to do a role with a 3-dimensional character than just a bad guy/good guy/friend of the main character whatever…I like roles that I can bring my talents to. My latest Film “All she wrote” directed by Niki Illiev I play an MMA Fighter who because of 2 many fights has a memory problem and O.C.D. and decides to take up his passion for performing as a singer and he meets a girl who has some mental problems and falls in Love but then he is pressured to have one more great Fight match by the girls brother. Great Stories Last in our memory…
Gary, after your great success as an actor for C.S.I., you have surprised the audience with your passion for music, showing yourself as a great musician. Would you like to tell us about your first single?
Well I’ve was playing and recording music in New York long before my acting days so it’s nice to return to my roots, I’ve released music under different names over the years like THE BELL CAFE and KOL DE but this is my first project in Italy and the single “the end” was a song that I redid with some Italian producers and I like to think this is their remix version of my song, it has been fun touring around Italy to promote.
In 2016, during the Concert on the 1st May, you performed with Nina Zilli. How was this experience?
I love Nina Zilli, she has great style and an amazing voice, and her band Rocks!!
What is the professional project are you currently working on?
I have a new album I’m currently working on I’ve recorded music in Mali Africa, in Brooklyn N.Y. and in Europe and I’m also finishing a film that was shot last year called “ALL SHE WROTE” that I mentioned above
How is your relationship with your children?
My kids are great they are artists like their Father.
What do you think about love? Are you currently involved with someone?
Love is what keeps me going, It is what inspires me most but right now I am mostly Married to my work.
How would you like Gary to be described?
I would always like to be remembered as being a gentle giving person, I have a very loving supportive family and they taught me well. Kindness is the only religion the world really needs..When I can give, I do. People that have known me hopefully can remember that I always want to make sure that everyone is equal, so I have wanted to always be generous ..God knows there is more than enough Land Food and resources for everyone but we just must learn to share, for many years I have supported and housed Artists, musicians, actors dancers and writers, I’ve given money, paid their rent when I could even buy houses and cars… and I would never ask for anything back or anything in return… just that they are the best that they can with what talents God has blessed them with … this is the spiritual path.

Do you like being portrayed as “sex symbol”?
Honestly, I am very flattered that people find me attractive but I always feel better when people actually discover I actually have a brain in my head.
You still have a great body. How much time do you devote to the care of your person?
I work out when I feel like it, If I miss a couple of days I go into the depression so I like staying active…
We would like to know if you have a secret recipe for that?
The secret to good health is not a Mystery, healthy foods, low in sugar and nothing processed, I don’t eat meat or dairy, and I’m still very large… there is the same amount of protein in a handful of pumpkin seeds than there are in a steak… I stick to a menu of fish and Vegetables, pasta 3 for a week at most and not a lot of bread. And I try to sweat a few times a week.
What is your long-cherished dream?
I would just like to continue making Movies and TV and Making Lots of Music and I want My kids to do the same.
What do you like about Italy in particular?
Tradition…Italians love food, and a good meal is all down to great ingredients natural organic non-GMO ingredients… and the Wine is great… and of course the Women are super Beautiful here and the landscape is breathtaking… I love Italy
Have you got many friends in Italy?
I have friends all over Italy, and I’m constantly smiling and laughing with them.
