Ginetta will host a two-day summer camp for aspiring young racing drivers at Blyton Park during the forthcoming school summer holidays. Drivers will sit alongside professional racing drivers as they learn what it takes to make a career in motorsport.

Ginetta unveil summer campThe two-day event will run from 28 to 29 August and will feature tuition from professional racing drivers both on and off the track. It will increase participants’ levels of understanding of the sport, with a holistic approach to preparing for a career in motorsport thanks to fitness and media training sessions.

The programme has been designed by Ginetta’s in-house Factory Drivers Mike Simpson and Charlie Robertson. The latter of which started his motorsport career in the Ginetta Junior Championship, and recently returned from making his debut in the Le Mans 24 Hours behind the wheel of the Ginetta G60-LT-P1.

Charlie Robertson said; “This two-day event is perfectly designed for any young drivers who are looking to become a professional racing driver. I started my car racing career with Ginetta when I was 14 and since then, we have won three championships together, and I’ve just come back from my very first Le Mans 24 Hours. It’s been such an incredible journey and I have learnt so much along the way. With that in mind, I’ve designed this programme based on what my 13-year-old self would want to know.”

Ambitious racers will enjoy one-to-one tuition behind the wheel of a Ginetta G40 Junior car throughout both days, with each session tailored to their own individual needs.  On-track driving will be complemented by V-Box data sessions, where drivers can compare their data to that of their professional driver coach. This provides a focus for analysis and improvement.

In order to deliver a holistic training camp, fitness and media sessions are also included. Ginetta’s Personal Trainer, Richard Chessman will be on hand to assess each drivers’ current fitness levels and provide a tailored fitness plan to prepare for the rigours of professional motorsport. A media training session will also be included and will cover everything from how to approach sponsors, to how you should (and shouldn’t )behave in a live TV interview. We’ll also include a few pointers on the best ways to use social media.

To take part in Ginetta’s Junior Summer Camp, drivers must be aged between 13 and 17. Previous circuit experience is not necessary as all activities have been designed to suit everyone from first-time drivers to karting graduates. The cost of the Ginetta Junior Summer Camp is £1,850 +VAT and includes all tuition, as well as light refreshments throughout the event.
