Since the pandemic, Brits have been shopping more and more with local stores and services. Indeed, research from Deloitte states that 59 per cent of consumers in Britain have bought from local stores and services more regularly. New consumer trends such as this could help smaller businesses take on Amazon and large retail platforms. But you need every edge you can get. Below, we explore how you can aid this by making your deliveries more personal.

How to make your deliveries personal and win your clients’ loyalty

    Handwritten thank-you note

One way smaller businesses can take on larger outlets is by being personal. With fewer customers, you can take the time to win clients by sincerely showing your appreciation – this is something a multinational brand will never be able to match. You can try this by adding a handwritten thank you note to each order. This can make deliveries seem much more personal and friendly, plus it can encourage consumers to frequently shop with your small business.

    Booklets

You can also try including little booklets with deliveries. These booklets can be an excellent way of gently showcasing your other goods and services in an unobtrusive way. The trick is to avoid sending a giant catalogue. Instead, you want your booklet to feel personal and relevant to what your customer has already bought – you want it to be small and understated. Just ensure that you work with a specialised booklet printing business to get the best results.

    Merchandise

Another way of personalising your deliveries is by adding merchandise. This doesn’t have to be anything huge, but little pieces of merch can help remind consumers about your service long after the delivery. Merchandise could include a pen, a diary, a mini-calendar, or even a postcard. Just remember to ensure that you have your brand design ready beforehand. Ideally, your logo will be gleaming on any merchandise you include.

    Little gifts

Little gifts can reward consumers for shopping with you and encourage them to return soon. This could be a sample of one of your products included within their delivery. Alternatively, you could include a small treat such as some sweets or chocolate with the delivery. Ultimately, it just needs to be something small and memorable.

Small, local businesses are thriving right now, and you can follow this trend too. By upgrading your deliveries to make them more personal, you can boost your business when it comes to attracting and retaining customers.
