Molly in the Metro is once again on fire this year with a couple of exciting new releases. Most recently, the band filmed a live session with It’s ON REC, a new live music platform showcasing emerging artists across the UK. Their recorded session took place at Out Late Collective Studio, a renowned creative space in Brixton known for high-quality videography and photography. The episode was filmed in July 2025 and hosted by the charismatic Gutxi Bibang
Originally Molly in the Metro sparked an early passion for music. Growing up in a creative household, her love for singing was nurtured from the start—her brother Harry also sings, and the family has long been supportive of her artistic journey. From singing covers of classics like Jolene by Dolly Parton and When We Were Young by Adele, Molly has since grown into an extremely talented songwriter with a distinct voice.
Molly and Michael K Manyana Known as Mike Kuda, founder of It’s ON REC, both attended The Trinity Catholic School in Nottingham—a school renowned for nurturing creative talent, discipline and academic briliance. Notable alumni include Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Rob Green, and Jacob Fowler of Since September. It’s no surprise that two passionate creatives from this background would go on to collaborate on a music platform like It’s ON REC.
Now spending her time between Nottingham and London, Molly is known for her versatile taste in music, favouring indie, neo-soul, lo-fi, and alternative genres. Her influences include the likes of Hozier, Little Simz, Mac DeMarco, and 070 Shake. Fans of bands like julie, My Bloody Valentine, Mazzy Star, Fleshwater, Blue Smiley, Mac DeMarco, Her’s, and Wet Leg will likely find something they love in Molly in the Metro’s sound.
Her most recent single, Chase, was released in February 2025, following the success of last year’s LOVESICK EP. With her five-piece band, Molly continues to write, record, and perform new material, with even more releases planned soon. Her talented bandmates include Sinead on keys, Kit on bass, Elliot on drums, and Abi on guitar—all of whom bring dynamic energy and rich musicality to Molly in the Metro’s live performances.
The Nottingham music scene has played a key role in her journey. The city is well-known for its DIY ethos and genre diversity, much like one of Molly’s favourite artists, Mac DeMarco. Institutions such as Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies and independent venues like Rough Trade, The Bodega, Jamcafe, and Metronome actively support emerging talents.
The Bodega, for example, has hosted early gigs for artists like The 1975, Jake Bugg, IDLES, Shame, and Do Nothing. Jamcafe in Hockley, a chilled and intimate venue, has welcomed artists such as Yazmin Lacey, while Metronome has featured the likes of Ezra Collective, Gracie Abrams, We Intend To Cause Havoc (WITCH), and JUNGLE.
With such a vibrant music culture, it’s no surprise that artists like Molly in the Metro are flourishing.
It’s ON REC, the platform hosting Molly’s upcoming live session, was founded by Mike Kuda — a former film student mentored by cinematographer Omri Dagan. Mike began his journey working with UK-based Colombian label No Easy Action Records, before moving on to Kingsland Records and Pure Vinyl Records in Brixton. His passion for music and videography merged naturally into the creation of It’s ON REC, offering a high-quality performance space for emerging acts.
While Molly’s episode is yet to air, Mike Kuda has hinted that it is one of the most dynamic in the pilot series. He also emphasised how filming at Out Late Studio brought the episode to life, and thanked Pete Inskip for studio hire support. The first episode of the pilot series featured artist DeeVoe, and was filmed in November 2024.
Mike Kuda extends a heartfelt thank you to his production team: Durrel Thomas, Christian Chilo, Andres Pacua, Bryan Giuseppi Rodriguez Campana, and Romano Giordanelli, as well as the entire team at Pure Vinyl Records. He also gives thanks to the earlier production crew on DeeVoe’s episode: Daniel Bernal,Daniela Cáceres, Fabiana Maksoud, Vesta Skaraityte, George Howard, Tree Xu, Garth Thomas, and Jazz Refreshed Records. Above all, he credits Claudia Wilson and everyone at Pure Vinyl Records for their unwavering support and community spirit.
A special thanks also goes to Cem Kaplan, Editor-in-Chief of FABUK Magazine, for investing in the first series of It’s ON REC and championing grassroots music media.
With momentum building around both Molly in the Metro and It’s ON REC, fans of innovative, heartfelt music have a lot to look forward to when the live session premieres on 20/09/25. Stay tuned.
