April 2, 2026 — Hollywood legend John Travolta is set to make a highly anticipated return to the Festival de Cannes, this time unveiling his first-ever film as a director.

Travolta’s debut feature, Propeller One-Way Night Coach, has been selected for the prestigious Cannes Premiere section. The film will have its world premiere at the Debussy Theater in the Palais des Festivals, with Travolta expected to attend the screening.
A Personal Project Inspired by Aviation
The film is an adaptation of a 1997 book written by Travolta himself, reflecting his lifelong passion for aviation. A licensed pilot with over 9,000 flight hours, Travolta is certified to fly multiple aircraft, including Boeing 707, 737, and 747 jets, and was notably among the first private pilots to operate an Airbus A380.
The story follows a young aviation enthusiast, Jeff, who embarks on a cross-country journey to Hollywood with his mother. What begins as a simple trip evolves into a life-changing adventure filled with memorable encounters and experiences, set against the nostalgic backdrop of aviation’s golden age.
Star Legacy Meets New Beginnings
Travolta’s return to Cannes carries added significance. He previously appeared at the festival with films like Pulp Fiction (which won the Palme d’Or), She’s So Lovely, and Primary Colors. Over a career spanning more than five decades and 70 films, he has become a defining figure in global pop culture through classics such as Saturday Night Fever, Grease, and Hairspray.
Now at 72, Travolta is expanding his creative legacy by stepping behind the camera.
Global Release on Apple TV+
Produced by JTP Films Inc. and Kids At Play, in collaboration with Apple Original Films, the film is scheduled for a global release on Apple TV+ on May 29, 2026, following its Cannes premiere.
