Life is a celebration in colour; for the Norwegian fashion house, Kepaza, colour represents positivity. This could not be more apparent than in its Spring Summer 2020 collection “Colour Me Rad”.

Designer and founder Pernille partnered with Sirenes – an esteemed abstract painter – this season to create two distinct prints for the collection. Sirenes has exhibited all over the world including New York City and China, and the inspiration of this creative collaboration is a consistent thread through the SS20 collection.

This season, Blue is a key colour and two new prints reign supreme. “We knew the prints should have lots of colours, as well as one with a subtler white and blue. Blue is the Kepaza colour so that is always in there, white has also been a strong Kepaza colour. There is also a splash of grey to balance the collection” – Pernille Fristad.

The Kepaza woman is creative and bohemian. She loves to wear effortless, playful, feminine and colourful clothes to show off her personality and stunning body, no matter her size. She cares about the environment and quality is important to her.

The brand uses two different types of organic Tencel, one is soft and light and the other is a bit warmer and thicker. The fabric hugs the body in all of the right places. Lyocell, better known as Tencel, is a fibre made from the wood pulp of trees that are grown and replenished on specialized tree farms. Unlike most cellulosic fabrics, Tencel is produced using recyclable, Earth-friendly solvents. When blended with cotton, Tencel adds wrinkle-resistance and the lustrous feel of silk.

Pernille Fristad explains her approach to production: “When we looked for factories, we were certain that we wanted it to be close to Norway. This is so the environmental emissions would not be excessive when the clothes are shipped to us. We also wanted the ability to visit the factory often and be closely involved in the production. Another reason we chose Lithuania as a location was because we wanted to aid employment in Europe”.

Not only is the brand environmentally-friendly by means of using solar panels to fuel the factory, but the in-house team also assist with the sorting of food, plastic, trash and paper in the studio. Kepaza strives to continue to further the brand from an ethical and sustainable point of view and promises to elevate womenswear fashion in the market in terms of inclusivity and progressive brand practices.
