London, 9th June 2025: Emerging fashion designer Kinar Ornika made a striking debut at the JCA Undergraduate Fashion Show held at Haberdashers’ Hall in London, unveiling her womenswear brand KINAR ORNIKA with a powerful first collection titled Siam Nostalgia.
Currently studying Fashion: Design, Branding, and Entrepreneurship at JCA, Ornika presented six cohesive looks that reflect her passion for art, craftsmanship, and her Thai cultural heritage.
About the Collection:
The debut collection, Siam Nostalgia, draws inspiration from Thailand’s Golden Age of fashion during the 1960s. The name “Siam” refers to the country’s historic identity, evoking a deep sense of nostalgia among Thai people. The collection pays homage to the late Queen Sirikit of Thailand, whose elegant wardrobe during her royal tours in the West—designed by renowned French couturier Pierre Balmain—represented the height of modest yet chic fashion.
Royal Influence and Bold Styling:
The collection features classic haute couture silhouettes reimagined with a modern twist. A standout piece, Look 2, combines a long tailored coat with a voluminous mini bubble dress crafted from traditional Thai woven silk. Masculine tailoring throughout the collection nods to the presence and strength of the King beside the Queen.
A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity:
Ornika skillfully juxtaposes airy, delicate Thai textiles with sharp suiting materials, creating a refined contrast that elevates the garments’ storytelling. Her designs aim to preserve and celebrate traditional Thai craftsmanship in a contemporary context.
Designer’s Vision:
Driven by a concern over the underappreciation of authentic Thai culture—even within Thailand—Ornika created Siam Nostalgia to revive and share her heritage through fashion. Through KINAR ORNIKA, she intends to continue innovating and expressing cultural pride, blending traditional techniques with modern design.
