London Fashion Week Men’s June 2019 is a City-Wide Celebration of Creative Diversity
The 14th edition of London Fashion Week Men’s (LFWM) runs from Saturday 8th June – Monday 10th June. It is a celebration of the creativity and diversity that has made London an international hub for menswear. The home of LFWM returns to the Truman Brewery and features the official BFC Show Space, a curated showroom of menswear brands and experiences, the NEWGEN Pop-Up Showroom and the DiscoveryLAB, a creative space hosting a unique mix of catwalk shows, presentations, experiential thinking and events which will shine a light on the depth and breadth of our creative industry.
There are many ways the consumer can be a part of this cultural celebration of London, with all the below activities and events open to the public.
An Enquiring Mind: Manolo Blahnik

The Wallace Collection and Manolo Blahnik will present An Enquiring Mind: Manolo Blahnik at the Wallace Collection. The exhibition features a personally selected edit of shoe designs from Blahnik’s private archives set amongst the masterpieces of the Wallace Collection. This exciting venture juxtaposes an icon from the world of contemporary fashion with Wallace’s outstanding collection that has been an inspiration to artists since it opened to the public in 1900. Colourstream by renowned landscape architect Dan Pearson brings an invigorating splash of colour to Coal Drops Yard. Phase one of this horticultural installation consists of trails of bright geraniums being used to guide visitors towards Coal Drops Yard from Granary Square, creating a vibrant path to the heart of this new space. Dorothea Tanning Exhibition

The first major exhibition of American artist Dorothea Tanning in 25 years at Tate Modern. Works spanning Tanning’s prolific career, from her 1930s Surrealist paintings to her final collection of poetry (published when she was one hundred years old), are displayed together in the UK for the first time since her death. Edvard Munch: Love and Angst review

Loneliness, anxiety, jealousy, fear and torment: Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1863-1944) probably wasn’t much fun at parties, but he sure had a knack for art. This exhibition doesn’t make for easy viewing: it’s heavy, dour stuff that’ll hang over you like a dark cloud. Don’t come expecting a massive in-depth show of his iconic paintings – this is all about his prints. Munch worked extensively with woodcuts, lithographs and etchings, and the results are often lovely. Get tickets here.

To celebrate LFWM, EJDER’s OPEN STUDIO provides a physical platform for those from within and around EJDER’s widespread community. OPEN STUDIO aims to create opportunity for young creatives who might not have the chance to have a physical space or platform. It focuses on creating an immersive experience, for both creative and audience, with peer education and community at its core.

JEHU-CAL @ OPEN STUDIO
8th – 9th June 2019
JEHU-CAL will be showcasing their two most recent projects along with creating a completely sustainable installation providing information about sustainability within the fashion industry.
To engage with their audience, JEHU-CAL are giving people the opportunity to come and interact with their project through, styling and modelling their next look book liv using the public as models and also inviting the public to design a garment for the brand. The competition will last across the whole weekend with winner selected and given the opportunity to collaborate with the brand to develop their concept into reality.
JAFFA SABA @ OPEN STUDIO

Independent creative, Jaffa Saba will be selling JAFFA SABA x OPEN STUDIO hoodies along with pieces from his archive customised collection.
To engage with his audience, Jaffa will invite customers to dip objects in liquid rubber to be hung on a drying rack. Alongside this, he will be creating an art installation of the items drip drying.
META WORKSWORLDWIDE @ OPEN STUDIO
8th – 9th June 2019
London-based jeweller and grills brand will be taking moulds of customers and be displaying some of their jewellery product.
To engage with their audience, METALWORKS will be giving live demonstrations on the process of producing grills as well as wax carving and allowing the public to customise their own dog tags.
In addition, EJDER will also present its up and coming collection with a adapted version of our installation which will be presented inside of Fashion Week, giving the public the chance to see and experience.
EJDER will also curate a small retail experience by selecting a hand full of brands that are exclusive to EJDER in the UK as well as releasing some exclusive merchandise.
Far Side of the Moon by Victor Wong x A.I. Gemini

Innovative artist and inventor, Victor Wong, is leading the collaboration between artificial intelligence and ink art. Wong is the creator of A.I. Gemini, the world’s first robotic ink artist programmed with artificial intelligence to paint unique Chinese landscapes. Gemini is coded to plot 3D virtual terrain. Gemini’s arm dips its brush into ink and water, sweeping across fresh Xuan paper with calculated choreography to reproduce this terrain with lines and shading. Each resulting work is unique. Over the last decade Field Day has slowly become one of London’s very best music festivals, with a consistently excellent booking policy covering the world’s finest alternative acts. This year marks another big change for the event; after last year’s move from east London’s Victoria Park to Brixton’s Brockwell Park, it’s relocating again – this time to four huge warehouses in Enfield. The line-up is typically on-point, though, with Skepta and Jorja Smith headlining a bill that also includes Diplo, Earl Sweatshirt and Pusha T. Get tickets here.

Bowling gets a much-deserved major exhibition at Tate Britain. The artist’s long-running career has seen him develop a unique style fusing abstraction with elements of figurative art. Leonardo Da Vinci: A Life In Drawing

Marking the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, the exhibition brings together more than 200 of the Renaissance master’s greatest drawings in the Royal Collection, forming the largest exhibition of Leonardo’s work in over 65 years. Drawing served as Leonardo’s laboratory, allowing him to work out his ideas on paper and search for the universal laws that he believed underpinned all of creation. The drawings by Leonardo in the Royal Collection have been together as a group since the artist’s death in 1519. It encompasses work considering the citizen visionaries of post Soviet Hungary, Middle Eastern Beatles fans and the stone carvers of Afghanistan, with Rakowitz’s casts of players and objects revealing the legacy of colonisation, modernism and globalism. This exhibition considers the loss of hundreds of community venues around London through market-led redevelopment and how this has changed the capital’s queer scene. New season pieces from Central Saint Martins’ graduates are styled alongside archive John Galliano for Dior in the 18, 11-metre high images that stretch 120 metres around the West End. Knight’s main challenge was to get people to look up from their phones and take in his “public exhibition”. He hopes it will permeate people’s consciousness longer than just an Instagram picture. “With any campaign image you want to get through to people and change how they perceive their lives after that. It’s a big ask, but there’s no point having a big billboard and saying nothing,” he shares. “You want people to look at the world in a different way after they have seen the world that you’ve created.” Find out more here.
