Michael Kors is pleased to announce that the following guests wore Michael Kors Collection to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit and opening of “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” on Monday, September 13,2021, in New York City.
Kate Hudson wore a petal scattered sequin, double crepe sablé two-piece gown with a matching silk organza feather coat, custom created for the occasion. Together, the gown & coat took almost 4,000 man hours to produce, using almost 80,000 recycled sequins in 4mm size to create the “scattered” look. Her petal clutch was created in a similar way, embroidering the 4mm sequins onto a satin base.
Regina King wore a midnight double sable crepe strapless gown with gold pinstripe embroidery and self covered buttons, custom created for the occasion. She paired her gown with a midnight double crepe sable evening coat lined with a brilliant array of cut & sewn gold sequins. Together, the two pieces took over 600 man hours to create, sewing 3mm sequins and beads alternately to form a unique geometric detail. She carried a clutch in midnight satin with shiny gold hardware.
Camila Cabello wore a violet crepe jersey gown with scattered sequins, custom created for the occasion. She wore a violet silk organza feather coat, lined in a charmeuse violet quilting. Her violet clutch was created in a similar way, embroidering the 4mm sequins onto a satin base.
Shawn Mendes wore a black plongé blazer from Look 13 of the Fall/Winter 2021 collection. He completed the look with a black crushed velvet slim leg trouser from the Fall/Winter 2004 collection archive.
Adut Akech wore Spring/Summer 2022 Look 59, an optic white double crepe sable tuxedo with encrusted diamond crystals on the lapel, bralette, and pant side stripe. The embellishment of the three separate pieces took over 60 man hours, embroidering over 12,000 unique crystals to create the beautiful pave effect. She carried a sequin embellished clutch on a silver satin base with palladium hardware.
Vittoria Ceretti wore a suntan stretch tulle gown fully embellished with gold mirrors, created custom for the occasion. This gown took over 450 man hours to create, sewing on approximately 11,000 unique mirrored pieces, which were stitched on individually using translucent microbeads. She carried a gold python embossed leather clutch with shiny gold hardwar
Ariana DeBose wore Spring/Summer 2022 Look 58, a silver metallic sheath dress with floral lace hand embroidery. She carried a metallic silver python embossed clutch with palladium hardware. The dress is crafted from metallic lace from Calais, France, and hand-embroidered in a silver metallic floral motif. The hand-work took 285 man hours and seven different sized paillettes were used to create the look.
