Grand Station is a large events venue based in the city centre of Wolverhampton. It recently featured in a BBC documentary titled ‘The Hidden World of Hospitality’ and is currently the British Asian Wedding Venue of the Year.

Grand Station is delighted to announce that it will be hosting the two-day final of Miss England at its venue in Wolverhampton.

The exciting competition will be held on Thursday 16th & Friday 17th May 2024. Forty women from across England will meet for the final catwalk & interview for the converted title & a place in the 72nd Miss World.

Leading up to the two-day event, the finalists will be taking part in a series of qualifying rounds including posting make up free images of themselves on social media, creating a Tik Tok reel to showcase their talent, & sourcing an 1940s themed travel outfit for the show’s opening scene at the former train station.

The forty Miss England finalists will also be promoting the BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE ethos to raise awareness & funds for The Haven charity in Wolverhampton which provides practical and emotional support for women and children who have been subjected to Domestic Abuse, who are at risk of homelessness.

Having banned the swimwear round from the contest earlier this summer  which made global press coverage , the judges will be focusing on the contestant’s studies occupations & inspirational stories.

Miss England has been running since 1928, but this is the first time this prestigious event will be held in Wolverhampton. Other areas who have hosted the contest in the past 22 years include London (5times) Torquay (twice) and various places in the Midlands including Leicester , Birmingham & Coventry.

One of the finalists from last year, Alice Jones from Walsall, finished 6th last year and was scouted following the contest to enter the Top Model of the World contest in Egypt

Alice said “I’m really excited that the Grand Station in Wolverhampton is hosting the next Miss England final. It’s such a glamorous and prestigious event that will put Wolverhampton on the events map. I have worked in and around Wolverhampton for 8 years and know it well. There’s been a lot of regeneration into the area and by bringing people from all over to the country to the area, Wolverhampton will have its chance to showcase this. I look forward to attending the final and seeing the glitz and glam of the competition! ”

The reigning Miss England is Aerospace Engineer “Jessica Gagen” who will be represent England at the 71st Miss World in the Spring.

Jessica found the train journey from Lancashire to Wolverhampton easy having stopped off for the shoot on her way to London.

“I’m excited to crown my successor in Wolverhampton, the venue looks great!” said Jessica, the first redhead to ever win the contest.

Danny Thompson, Director of Sales and Development at Grand Station said “It is an honour to hold to such an prestigious event at the Grand Station, it will be great for the local residents to see something so extravagant in person . The events industry, particularly weddings, is a female led industry. This event is all about female empowerment and body positivity and is steeped in history”

Director of Miss England & organiser of the event Angie Beasley said

“Wolverhampton is centrally located with the venue 5minutes walk from the train station & free parking outside, with a hotel next door.  It has built in AV, stage sound & light on sight, everything we need to create an exciting event.  I’m so looking forward to working with Danny & the team at Grand station to produce an exciting two-day inspirational family event for all ages! ”
