The first iconic location visited by Miss England’s trip to India was the breathtaking Golden Temple in Amritsar, one of the most important spiritual landmarks in the world. The Humanitarian trip combined with key iconic Indian landmarks has been organised by BOPA , The British Organisation of People of Asian Origin who are based in Coventry England.
Miss England 2026 Grace Richardson from Leicester along with Charlotte Grant from Liverpool who represented England at the 72nd Miss World had the opportunity to experience the peaceful atmosphere of the sacred Sikh temple, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib, which welcomes visitors from all faiths each year.
For the reigning Miss England , Oorvi Desai London, a couture house based in North West London provided an elegant outfit for Grace to wear for the special occasion .
The outfit Grace wore was a striking vermilion red palazzo-style suit from Oorvi Desai crafted from pure crepe silk, a colour deeply rooted in tradition and symbolic of celebration, strength, and grace. The rich hue is elevated with intricate gold zari embroidery, featuring delicate floral and heritage motifs that add depth, texture, and regal sophistication.
The fluid palazzo silhouette brings contemporary elegance, while the structured kurta maintains a refined couture finish. A beautifully embellished dupatta, finished with ornate borders, is draped over the head, enhancing the look with cultural authenticity and timeless charm. The interplay of the vibrant vermilion red with opulent gold detailing creates a powerful yet elegant statement, embodying both heritage and modern luxury.
Following the trip to the Golden Temple , the team visited the Eknoor Charity, where they met a group of young Orphans & then helped present a cheque donated by Rajesh Sachdev, Chairman of BOPA in support of the charity’s work helping the orphanage.
The visit reflected the Miss World “Beauty with a Purpose” ethos, combining travel and cultural experiences with meaningful charitable work that supports communities.
Grace and Charlotte now become the fourth titleholders to visit both Eknoor Charity and the Golden Temple as part of the BOPA India tour.
In 2020, NHS Dr Bhasha Mukherjee, then based in Derby the first British Indian winner of Miss England, made the visit during her humanitarian trip to India. Later, in 2023, Miss England Jessica Gagen from Skelmersdale Lancashire, an aerospace engineer, also visited the charity and the Golden Temple as part of the continuing relationship between Miss England and BOPA.
The visit marked the first iconic landmark of their India tour with BOPA, and an unforgettable start to a journey that combines humanitarian work, cultural exchange and international friendship — perfectly reflecting the Miss World philosophy of Beauty with a Purpose.
