London Fashion Week, in its grand 40th-anniversary celebration, kicked off with a dazzling display of innovation and style as Momonary made its debut in collaboration with 3M. The Autumn/Winter 2024 catwalk show, titled “Mappa Mundi,” not only showcased Momonary’s unique design aesthetic but also demonstrated how science and fashion can seamlessly merge to create cutting-edge looks.
Breaking away from tradition, Momonary utilized 3M’s groundbreaking technologies to infuse their designs with both creativity and utility. A remarkable 40% of the looks featured in the Momonary Autumn/Winter 2024 collection were a result of the collaboration, incorporating 3M™ Thunsulate™ innovations known for their warmth, breathability, and lightness.
Inspired by the Medieval Latin term “mappa mundi” meaning ‘map of the world,’ Momonary presented a subdued coluor scheme, incorporating sandy neutrals reminiscent of antique paper. The addition of berets as accessories further enhanced the vintage aesthetic, adding a touch of elegance to the overall presentation.
The designers showcased meticulous attention to detail, with delicate organza flowers adorning entire looks and accessories such as boots, berets, and bags. Embellishments brought a touch of sophistication to simpler ensembles, with a focus on tailoring and featuring classic white shirts.
Founded in 2019 by Zeng Yue and Fu Fanding, Momonary is part of a growing wave of Chinese creatives making their mark on the global fashion scene. Their innovative approach and willingness to collaborate with industry leaders like 3M showcase the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of fashion, creating a visual feast for attendees at London Fashion Week. As Momonary continues to evolve and captivate audiences, their unique perspective promises to shape the future of the fashion landscape.
