If you want an evening that has high energy, an original story, a fantastic cast, and great cocktails, then you want to go to Oscar at The Crown.

First off, what is The Crown? It’s a new venue space located directly under the huge Monopoly interactive entertainment venue on Tottenham Court Road (don’t let that put you off). The Crown is located in the basement and it couldn’t be more different than the cheesy venue above, it’s the complete opposite, and more fun! Enter down a flight of stairs into a semi-darkish dystopian room full of smashed television screens and old tube carriages and a very large disco ball to a show that is entirely dedicated to Oscar Wilde (famous for his novels and also for being convicted in 1895 for ‘gross indecency for homosexual acts.’) And while there is no gross indecency in this show, it’s wild(e), fun, and at times provocative. And it is now starring ‘Rupaul’s Drag Race’ star Jan Sport who plays Wilde.
So what takes place in this show? Well, we are invited to a show where the world is ending and a secret society has gathered in a bunker to live their true lives in celebration of Wilde and Queerness. This comes to us as an interactive standing only show where the stages move around the audience (citizens). With extreme high energy from the cast (who I assume have drank all the leftover coffee in the world) who work very hard (in 90 minutes) to entertain us and lift up our spirits as the world is about to come to an end! They must be the hardest working cast in London, even I broke into a sweat watching them! But they all nail their characters with the perfect singing voices and costumes that could’ve come out of a Mad Max movie. Sport is fantastic as Wilde, while Elizabeth Chalmers (as Chalmers up until Nov. 16th when Biller Kerr takes over) sings so beautiful you will be lost in her voice. Couple this with all the fantastic cocktails on offer and the dance afterparty that takes place when the show is over (if the world still exists) and you are in for a great time.
This show is going to end Nov,. 30th so it is a must to book now to catch it before it goes falls into the abyss. If you want a night out, if you want theatre, if you want dancing, if you want different and alternative, and if you want lots of fun Oscar at The Crown is the place to be!!
