The Secret Garden, a magical realism masterpiece by Frances Hodgson Burnett, narrates the journey of Mary Lenox, a neglected 10-year-old girl, who finds comfort and liberation in bringing back a secret garden to life.

While re-reading The Secret Garden in the early days of confinement, the theme of near-destruction and subsequent regeneration, along with how Mary works and cares for the withered and dead garden until it thrives, resonated particularly in creating the collection during lockdown.

Reassembled designs echo deconstruction/regeneration using the techniques of slicing and dicing, while the delicate need to thrive is in combination of thousands of blooms, silk blends cut-outs, the elegantly draped cape-back, sheer silk blend trim and silk detailed slices.

Reflecting on Mary’s enthusiasm and passion helped PANN navigate through uncertain times by focusing on creating an enthusiastic collection reflecting liberation, flexibility, modernity and fantasy. The Secret Garden collection tells a story of love – with a hint of melancholy.
